ECNL moving to school year not calendar

Anonymous
If a change is made you all get that the 15+ age ranges are not going to see some massive turn-over right? (Really 13/14+ because it’s likely the 2026 season at this point)

The developmental advantages as well as purposefully practice skills will largely be baked into the cake.

Is the thread full of a bunch of ECNL u6-u12 parents? 😂

My predictions:

US Soccer says everyone go SY.
ECNL takes top 4-5 clubs from GA.
GA is solidified as the #2 league.

Wonder why DPL felt the need to address this and not ECNL or GA…

ECNL has been publicly speaking about this since the summer. They’ve been very clear on when the decision will be made. What more do you want?

Not everyone listens to podcasts…

Well it's happening. Just need 150 more pages of denial before confirmation.

US Soccer will decide that bud.

Nope, US Soccer will make the decision.

Depending on the decision made ECNL and other leagues that like SY might do it on their own.

That’s not ECNL’s problem. Pp said they hadn’t addressed and they have, in detail twice.

What detail?

That the only thing we know is that US Soccer will make the final decision and that ECNL is going SY no matter what.

ECNL hasn't said that they're going SY no matter what. ECNL leadership on a podcast has stated that SY is their preffence. They also said that their preference is to not go SY alone.

The BY v SY decision is US Soccer's to make. If they choose change to SY ECNL gets what they want and is happy. If they choose to stay BY ECNL will need to decide what they want to do next.

Is anyone on here a lawyer for one of the organizations involved? If USSF stays BY, would US Club have to give up their USSF membership to go SY? As far as I can tell looking at the bylaws and policies, BY was probably effectively a recommendation from USSF even though they called it a "mandate." They would have had to put it in the bylaws to truly mandate it.

There's many different ways this could play out. Lawyers won't help, if ECNL wants SY bad enough they could make it happen tomorrow.

What's happening is ECNL is trying to bring as many leagues with them into a SY change as possible before any announcements are made.
