This has now made it to the top of Google news. Why do so many people listen to this reprehensible man?
Obama joins in assailing Limbaugh slur of student By DAVID CRARY, AP National Writer – 9 minutes ago NEW YORK (AP) — Rush Limbaugh drew fire Friday from many directions, including President Barack Obama, for his depiction of a college student as a "slut" because she testified before Congress about the need for contraceptive coverage. The third-year Georgetown University law student, Sandra Fluke, received a supportive phone call from Obama, and was backed by members of Congress, women's groups, and the administration and faculty at her Roman Catholic university..... On Wednesday, Limbaugh unleashed a lengthy and often savage verbal assault on Fluke. "What does it say about the college coed ... who goes before a congressional committee and essentially says that she must be paid to have sex?" Limbaugh said. "It makes her a slut, right? It makes her a prostitute. She wants to be paid to have sex." He went on to suggest that Fluke distribute sex tapes of herself. "If we are going to pay for your contraceptives, and thus pay for you to have sex, we want something for it," he said. "We want you post the videos online so we can all watch." http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5hADSP9Oh2laMhglSqJytqjNZyJbg?docId=c4509778f2924ad2915dc4e6a4cc731c |
| Since when is Rush Limbaugh relevant? |
| he is so disgusting. how can any americans be so stupid as to agree with him on anything? |
| He's a shock jock. What he says is irrelevant unless you react to it. He says things just to rile people up. He's about as important or relevant as those weirdos from Jersey Shore or Real Housewives shows. |
| what a dick. |
| He is a pig. |
|
As I later found out this college student testified for the coverage because she needs to take birth control to treat a cyst.
What a complete douchebag he is. Yuck. |
|
The previous office that I used to work at had a lab in the back, and they used to listen to Rush EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. It made me want to smash the radio into tiny little pieces. He's just disgusting. And, how in the world is he still relevant?
I wouldn't believe that people want to hear what he has to say, if it wasn't for the following he had at my last job. |
| He is a bloated, callow douchebag. He is completely irrelevant. |
Actually she doesn't need to - she has a friend who needs it. Fluke's statement is here: http://abcnews.go.com/images/Politics/statement-Congress-letterhead-2nd%20hearing.pdf What is amazing to me is that Limbaugh seems to not even have read her statement - which is actually quite a moving story about her friend who can't afford the medicine she needs for a serious medical condition. Typical sloppy journalism which Limbaugh tries to pass off as rigorous and informed. But it's just stupid. He doesn't even begin to address the points that Fluke made. It drives me crazy how commentators like Limbaugh think that being rude is somehow a sign of intellectual rigor. "Rude" can't make "stupid" smart. |
| He is an oxycodone addict. He is raving lunatic. He is mostly deaf from bizarre hillbilly drug taking. Seriously. |
| I think it's great that people get to hear what an ass he is, but I can't help wondering how he's still on the air when so many of his ilk (Stern, Imus) have been booted for their obnoxious comments. |
No. Actually she said that she was having so much sex that she couldn't afford the birth control. |

Feminism is dead.
The feminist fought for woman to be empowered. No we are rendered helpless unless the "government" or some other third party provides for our sexuality. Part of being a feminist is taking charge of our own sexuality. Get your but to the drug store, planned parenthood, etc. and get a box of condoms and some spermicide if you can't afford the pill. If the asshole you are sleeping with won't wear a condom then he is too big of a jerk to sleep with in the first place. Helpless woman who feel entitled to have someone else take care of them make me ashamed to be woman. |
The above is something I wish more people would understand. It is easy to isolate ourselves among people who think the way we do, and just assume that someone like Limbaugh is irrelevant because, well, he should be. But the reality is that large numbers of people in our country really do a) listen to him and b) think as he does. And unfortunately, they can often be motivated to vote. |
