Private & Independent Schools
Just tragic to think of unwitting families, teachers and, worst, kids, caught up in all this stuff that must have been deeply problematic before the doors even opened, given how fast some very good people couldn't stand it any more and left. The fact that it's still being hidden and lied about, and that new people are being sucked in is mindboggling. |
I suspect lots of people, sadly. Most people aren't on here. I'm sure the "admissions" office has a good sales pitch and answers to reassure parents who have questions or concerns. Maybe parents still have concerns, so ask to speak to current families? I'm sure admissions is going to connect them with people who have drunk the Kool-Aid. For a lot of people, especially people who may not have great connections and social networks, I imagine the problems aren't visible until they're committed and attending. |
Same here. Pulling out my kid after this school year ends. |
When they tour surely they notice the empty buildings and lack of students? |
It's a feature. Not a bug. "I'm sure you've noticed that few of our 1000-strong student body are in the classroom today. You'll find that EVERY day here at the Whittle School and Studios. It's all part of being the very first, truly modern, fully GLOBAL school. Today hundreds of our DC students are spending gloriously mind-expanding semesters at one of our sister campuses in cities around the globe. At Whittle, every student -- EVERY student -- will live and learn in four or more amazing world cities before graduation! And those who are spending the semester at home are NOT left out! Our unique program of community involvement, experiental learning, and project-based education sees much ot he rest of our student body out and about in their own community, pursuing projects of their own design and choosing. Learning MORE than any students before them have EVER learned in the HISTORY of the world! Why, just today, dozens of our Whittle DC students are working at the National Institutes of Health -- on a project of their own design, where the preliminary research reports THEY presented resulted inan invitation to set up their own laboratory, where they're moving rapidly toward development of a universal flu vaccine. Some of the students in that group are as young as eight and nine years old. Amazing! Others today are doing what they do each Thursday -- running a soup kitchen and shelter in one of the poorer neighborhoods of this city....A kitchen they themselves designed and constructed in a formerly abandoned building. A group of the seventh graders devised a brilliant business solution to procuring fresh, ultra-nutirtious food for the kitchen at low cost. That economic plan is now under study by not just the DC government, but also by the United Nations. And both organizations are likely to adopt it soon, since it seems likely to provide the anwer to world hunger! Revolutionary! You'll notice that our many fully equipped performance auditoriums are also quiet today...That's because hundreds of our students are having a final tune-up performance at the Kennedy Center, where the new Whittle-student-written New World of Education Symphony will premiere this weekend....It's a multi-media symphonic performance, initially conceived of by two of our 10th graders......blah blah blah blah blah bl...." Meanwhile, another of CW's minions has benn stealtihly tossing enough of Chris's Dark Magic Liar's Pixie Dust into the air to ensure that the visiting prospective parents are blinded and fall for all this. Just the way hundreds of other people have unaccountably been sucked into his utterly selfish con-man grifting tales for decades now when he pretends that his phony ideas are actually not just public-spirited innovations but will be profitable for everybody. |
There was a family touring just yesterday. |
So they're probably telling these families that they'll remain in that building? How the heck could that happen? They couldn't -- or at least didn't -- pay the rent before they were being sued for over $30 million in unpaid invoices (and had to beg for extra millions from parents to pay teachers' salaries). |
| If you had a friend who wanted to send their child to Whittle, what would you do? They didn’t get into any of the top schools they applied to, and only want something “brand name” in DC |
I would tell them to look at a K-8 if their kid in younger, or just do public if their child is going into Pk-1st. How old is the kid? |

With great irony, Whittle stiffed Carney Sandoe & Associates, a Florida-based TEACHER RECUITER for $35k.

As a former teacher at Whittle, I can guarantee any public school would be better than this school. The primary school is severely lacking in proper curriculum and structure. They spend most of the day playing. Their child will end up behind unless the family pursues outside tutoring or classes. |
That's pretty good. |
If it’s a good friend, I would send them a link to this thread and brainstorm ideas for other options. |
| The Fyre Festival called and wants its school back? |
They used the same caterer. |
