So, this seems shady. A WS tweet posted within the last half day or so is congratulating Whittle's Global Head of Architecture on his new book about school design. The tweet notes "Mr. Bordwell’s passion and expertise can be seen in our Washington, DC and Shenzhen, China campuses." I was under the impression that the Shenzhen campus parted ways with the DC sh*t show. (That's not to deny that Bordwell worked in both projects, but there's no more "our" Shenzhen campus.).
The tweet further notes "We can't wait to see where he will take us next." Uh, yeah...that'll happen. The lies and misrepresentations Just. Never. End. |
+1 |
So true about the lies and misrepresentation part. Shenzhen is no longer affiliated with the DC campus. The DC campus is barely having on. It is so funny to give someone the title of "global head..." |
| I wonder if WSS recruited any new students, but I highly doubt so. Of you go to the school website, it is very outdated and still mention Shenzhen as being part of the WSS network. |
In addition, of course, to the things that obviously were way downhill already, during their tenure -- but that the families didn't know about. Bisgaard and Brown are dedicated career educators. People like that don't just walk away from schools they've worked at for only a short while. If they hadn't already seen some disastrous and threatening things, they never would have abandoned ship. But obviously, they did see such things.....but behind the scenes where they weren't apparent to others. Seems to me the speed at which Brown and Bisgaard (and others!) left shows pretty clearly that the tree trunk must have been rotting from the inside from day one. |
Totally agree! |
They have recruited and accepted new students. Perspective families have been touring the school. |
| I never heard of this site before Whittle. A neighbor and another friend had to tell me they're talking about Whittle on DCUM. I've learned a lot from this thread that I would have never been told by the school administration. |
+1 Many families have been accepted. I would round to up and say 10 have toured and it’s sad that half of them most likely don’t even know half of the crap that has happened. |
| What about the guy who was the head of the Harrow School? What happened to him? |
|
He disappeared without notice. But the London company has been insolvent for a long time now. They probably couldn't afford him
As was stated earlier and strangely deleted , the former head really didn't act as a head of school. More like a dean who spent money--no fundraising , no budget to sweat..no Board to cajole...the place was not run professionally at first. His wife was brought into roles no one had expected--staff departures were never announced..he was very self referential in many of his letters to the school, and was as warm and nice as they come..but could come down hard on anyone who would say anything privately or publicly critical. It was a weird somewhat unprofessional place full of people with good intentions...with exception of Whittle himself who clearly saw it as a way to get himself out of severe debt to his prior venture .. |
| Bisgaard was already gone when we joined the school. But Ara Brown was a class act. As were other true educators. |
Do you have kids who attend Whittle? |
Yes but not for long. June can't come quick enough. |
Gosh... who in their right mind would have applied to this school for Fall '22?! I have a few nice bridges they can buy as well! |
