VYS Soccer - better or worse?

Maybe, that would be surprising from a small, community club whos business model is to keep costs as low as possible. They charge $1400 all in with no team fee (high school age girls at least)

Any VYS families that had their young DC (U7/U8) go through the free "Development Center" then invited to join the "Advanced Development Center Program?" What I really want to know is whether it really is selective based on talent or is it a money grab ($125 for three practice sessions, jersey, game against other clubs)? Of the 75+ kids in the Development Center, how many are invited to the Advanced Developmental Center?

Looks like Arlington won in every age group (except U14, which isn't posted yet) - https://public.totalglobalsports.com/public/event/2297/individual-club/528/9

Dang, the U16 team was taken to the woodshed.

And remember, that’s Arlington’s second team.

I have no skin in this game - but just had a look at ECNL-RL. It seems to be a big step down in level for the ex CCL teams, especially the North division which appears very weak.

Yes, Loudoun and Arlington will walk through the ECNL-RL and meet in the final game of the season. Hopefully, both teams can scrimmage some better talent and play in some decent tournaments.

The ECNL-RL Virginia South looks much stronger with VA Legacy, Richmond Kickers, Richmond Strikers, Beach.

Why are Loudoun and Arlington 05 girls so weak ? Both teams were hammered by Stafford.

Stafford 05 is a very strong team and should beat the B teams from Loudoun and Arlington.

Likely went out to everyone. They are trying to recoup some of the cost out of the families. When they charged for the training it was poorly attended. Somewhat better attendance when free (although not as well attended as I expected), but it looks like they used the free sessions to try and hook you to pay for the final three weeks and the little scrimmagefest. In fairness for 8 weeks of coaching, a jersey, and an all day scrimmagefest the 125 is about what you would expect to pay.

DC did it a few years ago and it was a similar program. I took it for what it was, extra sessions and the extra time outside was great at that age. I didn’t think it was selective. At that time, anyone made travel if you tried out so it was good practice for the kids to see if they liked having additional practices and time in soccer. There were some ultra serious parents and many like us there.

From the club prospective, picking travel teams has to be a lot easier if you know the kids. When my oldest did the program there was a cost and it was something like 40 kids. The ones that participated mostly were placed on higher level travel teams. Now my youngest is in the program and it’s been going well so far. I love that it’s free, but to charge some money for the last month and see who is really serious about it seems fair enough and is probably a good way for the coaches to focus on the kids that will make up their youngest travel teams next season.

Does VYS do Super-Y? Arlington and McLean are holding tryouts over the next two weeks for this summer.

VYS is not fielding Super Y teams for the 2022 summer.

Herndon, Great Falls/Reston and McLean are fielding Super Y teams under the Northern Virginia Majestics. And Arlington is fielding Super Y teams. Tryouts are taking place now, so if your player is interested, it is time to sign up.
