Yes, and Saratoga should have been moved to SoCo when it opened, but the Saratoga families fought to stay at Lee/now Lewis. |
That was over 20 years ago. Things have changed and if the board was truly focused on transportation they should have revisited this. Both SoCo and WS are closer in mileage and neither requires highway transport. Lewis is the furthest away and requires the bus to get on 95. |
Saratoga should ho to SoCo instead of Lewis. But the reps focus and priority is on getting Rolling Valley to WSHS, including moving other neighborhoods out to do this. Saratoga is not a priority, nor is Lewis. RV is the priority right now. |
So you think we should move a bunch of families to Lewis because they don’t have enough school spirit? Seems like a weak justification to me. |
| do we think KAA maps will post before open house? or even after open house?? |
| Have those maps been drawn yet? |
|
Copy pasting from the other thread: "Soooo Dr. Reid said it on the community meetings they intended to share "drafty draft" maps for KAA before the open house on Saturday, guessing similar to the release of the Scenario 4 maps that its not happening as promised."
|
| I heard her say at the open house they will share drafty drafts. |
| She said there will be 4 different maps presented at the Open House. She also pretty definitively said that KAA Maps would be part of the Boundary review maps that the SB would approve in January. |
| Who is going to the open house ? Should we all attend ? |
|
4 separate maps, what the actual ???
How do they have a legion of staffers at Gatehouse and they can't do a dang thing. Anonymous posters on this site could come to a 90% consensus on fair boundaries in about 20 minutes. |
On 10/23/25 Reid said they came out with about 12 maps and are presenting 4. Should have been 1 for all Oct meetings and let people give input. Reid's known about it for months so 1 map should have come out with scenario 4 which also should have included AAP with no transfers at Carson, Franklin, Rocky Run, Liberty, Stone, Herndon. FCPS submitted an occupancy permit to the county for about 2415 sq ft of office space at the site- IMHO lots of time wasted on programming BS instead of segueing right into AP , traditional boundary, comprehensive HS. People like Meren have focus on keeping the 60 kid preschool space with a separate entrance...no clue how many HS classrooms that could be. Estimate 6? some schools compute cap by 30/class making that 180. Also they know the county is not permitting the Centreville expansion to 3000 from program capacity 1968+ 156 modular=2124. That grand plan was to expand design capacity from 1953 to 3000. 381 million for the project. |
| Why on earth do we need a huge preschool space at a high school? |
That’s interesting because with the county-wide study some pyramids essentially saw a single map for Scenarios 1-3 and perhaps revisions in Scenario 4. So basically two maps at most. But for KAA they’ll apparently share multiple options - another example of how this county-wide study treats some pyramids like crap while all this money and attention gets focused on one part of the county. |
So Merin can claim there just isn’t space to redistrict kids from South Lakes. |
