That's the thing. The scouts will follow the clubs/players in the end.

Spoke to a parent and announcement is tomorrow morning with meeting after in the evening.

Gotcha, no reason to wait on the announcement until after the meeting since word has gotten out.

Agree. Maybe to let girls news settle. I've also heard multiple scenarios, so question is which is true? Heard they get Next 2, but also heard they get 3 teams (1 in Next and 2 in Next 2) which doesn't happen. They do need to just put it out there for the families but that would be too easy.

Academy and ECNL teams trained together tonight and coaches told them 1 MLS Next and 1 MLSN2 team.

So all the ECNL team is now in the equivalent of ECNL Regional League...(the MLS2 teams are all RL-like teams in the mid atlantic)

Would they add NPL or push the extras down to NCYS? Those who stay

Don't know enough to comment about MLS2, but frankly all but a couple age groups should probably be in a RL-like environment anyway after the loss of players to Fox. Hopefully that changes with the MLS Next offering and trickles down to MLS2 and teams below, but who knows.

Great question, am wondering the same. RL players in particular heavily impacted.

The addition to mls next is planning long term. More kids will play soccer if they hear “mls” more rec kids = bigger player pool. A lot of people want immediate satisfaction, but these are businesses looking to stay relevant in 5-10 years.

It's entertaining watching the ECNL snobs get wacked on the head over and over by all the GA additions.

It's even more entertaining reading the comments of those who plan to go down with the ship.

I’d argue MLS2 is lower than RL. All the teams added to the Carolinas division are NPL teams this year, which in this area are not at RL-level.

If it’s really 1 MLSN team and 1 MLS2 team, then NPL would seem to make most sense, especially since most of the NPL teams just joined MLS2, leaving a big gap. Although I wonder if NPL will be around much longer as it feels like MLS2 is just NPL with a fancy new name attached to it. NCYSA teams need players too to make Blue and Tan teams more competitive, no CISC team ever plays above 2nd division.

I don't know about the other age groups, but definitely not the case with 08s, at least based on this year's teams. The Fox 08 team is primarily former CISC ECNL guys (along with 3 from Academy) and they are ECNL level, only HFC and NCF RL would be relatively competitive with them. Triangle United and Wake FC MLS2 were both NAL and the latter would probably also only have any trouble with those 2 + maybe CSA White, they'd smoke the rest. Have played both James Island NPL and Charleston SC and each would finish top half in RL, probably not as good as HFC (who is going NL) or NCF though. Don't know squat about Mutiny (is it their 2nd team?), Carolina Core or Tormenta but if they're solid at least 08 is a cut above RL IMO and at worst on par. If the existing CISC players stick around, they'll be good at that level too.

My son played RL 2 years before NL so we're pretty familiar with all the Carolinas Division RL teams.
