Sources for these statements?

I think the more outraged they are, the happier she will be.

Terrible photos. I wish she'd wear her hair naturally, I bet she'd look so pretty with curls instead of her awful flat ironed severe look.

She looks horrible.

Clearly, her PR folk(s) have found this post.

The whole humanitarian schtick is old. They aren't humanitarians, they are grifters.

That being said, I appreciate that they are trying to do some good; they certainly aren’t doing any harm. But I can sense a bit of an identity crisis as they try to find their footing outside of the BRF. Appearing on TV to address the nation with words of comfort and encouragement made sense in the UK, in the context of their roles as royals, but it’s a little off here on the states. I don’t want to say “who cares”, but it’s kind of true.

As an American who has worked in humanitarian aid, I've always found it 'off' that American celebrities will move the world to have great impact abroad but rarely if ever do anything at home.

The Bill+Melinda Gates Foundation spends hundreds of millions annually fighting disease and hunger abroad but nothing in the U.S. which finances their generosity through Microsoft.

Oprah built an entire private school system in South Africa but nothing here in the U.S. where her network coverage over decades made her a billionaire.

Angelina Jolie is infamous for appearing in refugee camps globally, and adopting children from impacted places, but you don't see her step foot inside a U.S. shelter to volunteer.

George Clooney built an entire satellite network just to spy on the government of Sudan and record human rights atrocities. But nothing in the U.S. for police brutality and high murder rates of BIPOC.

I'm giving all these examples to say, I truly wish celebrities who were born here, raised here, and became wealthy in the United States did more to not only support impoverished Americans but also shed light on the problems that we have - from the clean water crisis in Flint to the educational blackhole of West Virginia to the high gang violence in Chicago to the LGBTQ homeless crisis in California.

Its time that celebrities did more on American soil and I like that this is Meghan Markle's focus.

NP but I don’t have a problem with them doing charity work in the U.S. I certainly agree as a public school teacher for many years that there are great needs to be met in the US. I don’t need Meghan and Harry to address Americans in a televised address. We have no connection to them and therefore no trust in them. If Oprah were to address the US that would be different because she has built up a relationship with Americans. MM and Harry need to do that first. The only thing that still pops into my head when Harry is mentioned is the Nazi incident because I never follow royal news. He needs to rebrand and live here awhile before lecturing any of us.

Odd that you mention Oprah and that you don't want a 'televised address' from Meghan+Harry. how do you think Oprah built up that relationship with Americans? She had a 3-decade career on television. Everyone starts somewhere, that is what Meghan+Harry are doing. Also I guess I can see the irony of Americans like you being piqued at being lectured to, but Americans love going abroad and lecturing locals on the proper way to educate their young, the proper way to vote, the proper way to build electrical power grids and roads, the proper way to vaccinate against disease (particularly ironic since we have the worst case rate + death rate in the world right now for Covid-19).

Since I've witnessed this firsthand it doesn't really bother me to have the tables turned. Especially since Meghan Markle is an American anyway.

First Oprah’s career started on a talk show interviewing people. Not doing televised addresses lecturing people. Second, you bring up all of the faults of the US in terms of lecturing other nations and didn’t seem to mention the faults of the British monarchy, as if their hands and coffers are clean from colonialism and paternalism. But just keep hating on the US as if it’s the only nation with these faults.

Not a single person needs British royalty telling them what is right and wrong. Meghan Markle has no creed. She has no experience in being any kind of humanitarian. Harry has a bit more ambassadorship experience.
Her whole claim to fame is that she married a prince! Why would I, a better educated, better read person ever need to listen to anything Meghan or Harry want to preach? Let Brits admire their royal family, Meghan is not royal, a Harry is a royal turd.

Lol...Meghan and Harry ran from the British royal family because the institution is awful.

They sure held on to those titles though. So, not that bad, apparently since they still want to be associated with royalty.

Which, as a POC, seems the ultimate in sanctimony. Lecture the world on their mistreatment of brown people but then confirm to the beauty norms of white people. Meghan wants to have her cake and eat it too.

Maybe I'm naive, but this thread is shocking.

Some of you will look to ANYTHING--in the past few pages, flat-ironed hair, a puffy face, not picking one single cause, a miscarriage announcement, a television appearance thanking "heroes"--as a reason to despise her. Like someone else said, you're unhinged.

Why are you not posting about Prince Andrew and his family (and entire network) of enablers? Or Fergie still living in a royal residence?

Are you lost? This is the MM and Prince Harry thread.

Poor Harry. He’s so lost and confused. That’s what happens when you have to grow up without a mother.

Chelsey Davy was a much better match for him. It all seemed much lighter and happier.

He’s like those other royals living in exile with no purpose and going to seed like The Duke of Windsor and Princess Margaret. Yoi can see their disappointment and tragedy in their faces
