VHSL Girls Lacrosse 2025

Yes, I don’t have much confidence in my DD’s team stats. Thinking next year we might have a couple of knowledgeable parents keep the stats instead.

I think POY should not be based on stats. In addition to stats being poorly tracked and padding extra stats in blowouts, some teams spread the stats around better than others. I would use the eye test. If you watch the games, you know the standout players. They are fast, consistent, and control the game. The POY could be at any position but will likely be a midfielder from one of the top teams, including YT, Madison, Oakton, Langley, and BF. Each of those teams has one or more that would be deserving. Admittedly, I haven't seen every team, but I would start with middies from those teams.

#4 west springfield we play the winner of #5 LB and #8 Soco who will then end up playing #1 robinson

Are the rankings known somewhere?

I predict WP easily wins first game and goes on to beat Woodson.

I like those odds. It’ll hopefully be another good game for wp and woodson if they advance

Woodson wins in a game of out coaching them!

If stats aren’t right, that should fall on the coach. They should be watching film and making sure they are right. Groundball, caused turnover, interception, assist (no more than three steps after the pass), goals and saves. No coach should rely on the managers keeping book or a parent.

Did they draw the paper slips yet?

Coach S from Woodson for taking what is one of the weaker teams in Woodson memory to 2nd place in the district. Impressive that they don't slip even in their down years.

How is 5-9, not slipping? No 10+ goal losses from 2021-2024, but three 10+ losses this season. Two best wins were each by 1 goal. Coach S may have done a wonderful job with a weaker team and great job with 2nd in the district, but unless Woodson goes on a major run in the playoffs, they have clearly slipped. Last season, they went 3-3 in the playoffs. Doubtful, they will improve on that this year. It seems nearly impossible to get above .500 this season. I'm not trying to troll, but hard to argue they haven't slipped based on the numbers.

2021 (11-4) 73% Win Percentage
2022 (17-5) 77%
2023 (17-4) 81%
2024 (12-8) 60%
2025 (5-9) 36%

Ah - most districts are done. Which team has the greatest chance to stumble before the paper slip drawing?
