So I went to return a baby monitor that was defective and it was no hassle. I just picked another one (different but similar) because they were out of the original one. It was so easy it was almost scary - I say that because I always have such a bad experience at BRU... anyway, the person who assisted me mentioned it would be an even exchange and I just went on with it.
When I got home I found out that the monitor they gave me was already opened and all scratched - like someone dropped it. I went back to the store today and returned it and when they said how much store credit I was getting I choked! I paid $180 for the first monitor but the "even exchange" was $100!!! It took them almost 1 hour to find my previous transaction to see how much I really paid originally for the first monitor, they gave me the difference in a gift card and I just bought the next model up - a $50 difference. I got home to read the reviews online before opening this one and what was my surprise... the monitor the sold me for $230 costs $120 on Amazon!!!! GAH!!! I feel like punching myself for not checking before buying. Now, let's see what they'll say when I go there again tomorrow to return it once again. I just hate this store so much, why do I keep going back to them????????? |
| What's that saying, fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me. Learn your lesson and stop! |
| Why are you pissed at BRU? Sounds like you should be pissed at yourself. |
I sure am but I gotta blame it on someone else, right?
I know I know, the problem is their return policy, you HAVE to go back there
|
Why don't you stop the driving back and forth for a minute...go on-line, look what models BRU has, look up reviews and figure out what you want to exchange it for BEFORE you go back? Then maybe you only have to go back one more time. If I'm returning anything, I always stop and look on-line and figure out what I want (either a replacement of the same item, or if a different brand, WHICH different brand and which ones the store carries) before I leave the house the second time. |
| I can't stand BRU and tell all my friends to register at Buy Buy Baby instead. The BRU return policy is darned annoying. I just went there to return some stuff that wasn't on my registry that I didn't have a receipt for, but was clearly from there. The customer service person made a big deal about telling me they didn't take things back without a receipt, but she would do it if I gave her the info from my license. I had no problem with that and so she gave me a card with store credit for the value of the item. I then shopped for what I needed and went to pay using this card- and was then told that there was a 4 hour hold on that card and I couldn't use it that day. Super annoying! I had gotten a bunch of stuff I might not have otherwise gotten if I didn't have credit (clothing and accessories) and I was tempted to argue or put it all back, but by then my baby was crying so I just paid and left. WTF sense does that policy make?? |

| Once you know how it works, it's not that bad. I live RIGHT near one and nowhere near BBB, so I'm there a lot. I just save ALL my receipts and process returns seperately. In fact I do this at all stores: do then return the minute I walk in the door, THEN look around for something else. |
|
I live right by one and I refuse to go there.
I was given about 200 dollars worth of baby clothes from my mother before DS was born in NB size....he was over 10 lbs at birth. I went to return the clothes when he was only 3 weeks old and they would only give me the clearance prices for each item (so, like a total of 30 dollars back). Nowhere on the gift receipt did it say anything about a 60 day return policy. They said if the items had been on my registry I would have gotten the full amount back. SUCH BULLSHIT. So, I kept the clothes and will be giving them away as gifts. I didn't even tell my mother....she'd be so pissed. |

OP here.
We moved from DC area so now our BBB is next door to BRU. I just went to BRU because it was cheaper there. I never thought I would have to return the monitor (don't we all think things should never be defective?) Anyway, I'm canceling my order and buying it from Amazon. |
|
How about you spend time on the internet looking up baby monitors vs. complaining about your trips to BRU.
Yikes. |
How about you stop judging people thinking they have time to sit on their ass in front of the computer all day like you do. |
OP here. Can you please explain to me how would the story change if I had known that the THIRD monitor I got was cheaper elsewhere? Would it change the fact that the first one was defective? Would it change the fact that the manager would put the wrong price in the return? Would it change the fact that the second monitor was open/damaged? Would it change the fact that they didn't have the third kind in the store? If the only issue was the price I would not be that mad. The price difference was just the last drop, you know? Did you even read my entire post? How did you conclude that after all the hassle the only problem was the price difference? |
| Stop complaining and stop going to babies r us. The first situation should have taught you that they're horrible. |
