Meghan Markle and Prince Harry News and Updates

I'm only bitter because they aren't friends with me.

I've got nothing against them.

But if they've moved to the US, I presume it's to be private citizens living normal lives. No need to keep the dog and pony show up. Take some time off of the royal train and then get back on (in the UK) when you're ready.

Oh, I love this!

Handing out toys with Marines at Toys for Tots

Becoming Salvation Army bell ringers

Packing Christmas food packages for the poor

Lightning Hanukkah candles at a home for the elderly

Singing Christmas carols at The Grove

Attending Midnight Mass at a church with proper social distancing.

These all sound like lovely things that families do in their community. Maybe minus Mass for me but still. I will never understand all the hate MM and Harry get for ... volunteering.

It's not the volunteering; it's the near constant sharing about their volunteer work.

This. It is pure self promotion, hypocritical and insincere. Droning on and on about the environment and such while living in an energy wasteland environmental disaster mega mansion. Trying so hard to be royalty in America by doing the things the royals do in England because all they have are British titles, no other discernible talents. They are pretty much universally loathed.

I wouldn’t say universally loathed bc a lot of people do not know all of the details. But you are correct that they are doing in the US what they said they no longer wanted to do in the UK. They also said they wanted privacy yet they publicize their every move.

I don't think that they are wrong at all for highlighting their charitable work because one of the goals is to bring attention to the organizations with which they work. In turn, these orgnaizations benefit by having international attention come their way, which results in new patrons/financial sponships. I think that they can do that while simultaneously not wanting tabloids prying into their private lives or flying drones over their home in order to snap pictures of their baby (which would then get published for the financial gain of the rags).

Err... the only people who pay attention to the couple's charity photo ops are Hollywood tabloids. No respectable media really devotes time to Harry and Meghan. So not sure what they hope to gain from it beyond trying to validate their increasingly shallow life. I'd have more respect for them if they just straight up and said we're going to be rich celebs and live a fancy life. And that's ok. But this whole year of subterfuge moves to Canada and then the US and all their statements really points to an utterly clueless, utterly out of touch couple (and majorly social climbing on her part) .

"No respective media really devotes time to Harry and Meghan"...yet they have been featured in Time, Forbes and the New York Times. I would ask your definition of respectable, but it really doesn't matter. Respectable or not, the media knows who brings in the clicks/money.

But, what would you have them do? They can’t do normal jobs, for either skill or security reasons. What would they do with their days? They are taking the trust fund philanthropist route which is more admirable than the trust fund ski instructor / party circuit approach they could have taken.

Yes, they can get normal jobs. Virtual work is common. Learn a skill, go to school, and get going.

MM can easily get back to acting.

Living like they’re the Royals of America is gross and goes against the values of democracy.

She’s totally pregnant again. Her face and lips are puffy like her pregnancy with Archie.

Yep, barely recognizable.

Why should they get 'normal' jobs when Netflix is paying them $100 million? Jesus you people are delusional.

I like Harry, but he’s been blind-sided by the fame hungry MM.

She was a D-list actor before booking up with Harry. She’s now hijacked the spotlight to share with the world how “woke” she is. Her lastest appearance on CNN is absolutely nauseating. But she’s no doubt loving the spotlight and enjoying how media is now giving her a platform.

Why do I care what she says on CNN? Or the NYT? I resent seeing them randomly when I have no interest. I know I'm here commenting. It's just really annoying that they are everywhere and the only reason is the royal connection that they "left behind."

They have tons of money. Either stay hidden or pick a cause or causes and actually commit to them regularly and publicly

These drive by media appearances only remind me how irrelevant they are outside of the BRF and apparently Netflix

Philanthropist? Give me a break. They're craven grifters banking $1m checks for speaking fees and far more for their Netflix deal. They'll take money from any source for apparently any sort of work to fill their coffers. Gross vulgarians.

Chances are that H & M will continue to appear in these mediums...if seeing them bothers you this much maybe you should not watch/ read them. H & M just out there living their lives you should do likewise.

If news about them didn't sell, they wouldn't be in the news.

I’ve said this before - we don’t have royalty here in the states, so MM and Harry’s appearances seem kind of stilted. When they came to the US they became garden-variety celebrities, without the gravitas that royal status brings.

That being said, I appreciate that they are trying to do some good; they certainly aren’t doing any harm. But I can sense a bit of an identity crisis as they try to find their footing outside of the BRF. Appearing on TV to address the nation with words of comfort and encouragement made sense in the UK, in the context of their roles as royals, but it’s a little off here on the states. I don’t want to say “who cares”, but it’s kind of true.
