You are weirdly obsessed with this family and their grief.

Mentioning it once in a 142 pg thread is "obsessed"? Would you say that the people who have spent 142 pgs arguing about Disney's liability; potential settlement values; what the signs should say; and where they should be place -- are also obsessed? Or is it merely "obsession" to acknowledge that all the "special" occasions/long weekends must be hard for another person?

No crowds at Disney this weekend. Very light. Usually the crowds close the parks to capacity on July 4th weekend.

Stories emerging about a second gator attacking the father. Awful.

The father's account of a traumatic incident that occurred in the dark may not be entirely accurate, hence the use of the word "may." Alligators do not hunt in groups.

There was obviously another gator, for whatever reason, there. That's what the father said. Why would anyone question that?

Because human memory is extremely fallible and fear further distorts that. I would never think the father made it up on purpose and there certainly may have been another gator, but a memory made when your toddler is in the jaws of an alligator?

It's very difficult to remember what happens during a robbery or attack, and you'll typically get 5 different descriptions of an intruder from 5 different witnesses. Not saying there wasn't a 2nd alligator but it could have been a log. The mind is funny and memory is not great in situations such as this father experienced.

Who are these posters who are so concerned with how many gators there were?

And to the other PP, no July 4th is NOT one of the typical capacity closure days.

If the father was attacked do you think he would have attack/bite/teeth wounds? I'm not concerned however for this NOT to be part of the original news story and just now information that's coming out or being released is odd and doesn't sit well with me. Sorry if you don't like that, but I'm entitled to an opinion on how I feel about the 2nd alligator just now coming out.

The father DID have attack/bite/teeth wounds, as cited in many news articles. They had to basically force him to get treated while still searching for his son. Wtf kind of line of questioning is this?

You are weird.

It did not come out through the father. It came out from the cop who was there with the parents.

There is nothing odd about it.

Disney has wiped out references and depictions of alligators and crocodiles from its storied attractions at the Magic Kingdom in Florida in the weeks after a 2-year-old was killed in an attack at a resort, according to reports.

The Miami Herald reported that cartoon alligators and crocodiles have been removed from shows and parades, and a popular one-liner warning parents to watch their children or “the crocodiles will” is no longer told on the Jungle Cruise ride at the Magic Kingdom.

Walt Disney World Resort Vice President Jacquee Wahler confirmed to The Washington Post on Thursday that the company “made changes out of respect for the family.”

“We did this two weeks ago immediately following the incident,” she said via email.

Uh-huh. Sorry Dumb Disney: you're a-gonna get sued.

They know dumbass. You can stop drooling over some Disney downfall that isn't going to happen. They will pay a huge settlement, that will still be the equivalent of a rounding error on their balance sheet, and when I go back next my hotel room, my food, and my park tickets will STILL cost more than last year and I'll still have trouble getting the FastPasses and dining reservations I want. Disney will endure, much to your dismay.

With all this, you're still going? Who's the dumbass?

Why wouldn't people still go to Disney? Disney World has been open almost 45 years. One freak occurrence isn't going to keep me away. People die in car accidents every day. I still drive. People die in airplane crashes. I still fly. Sad for the family, but alligator attacks are not the norm.
