2 Year Old Dragged into Water by Gator at Disney Resort

Is there any chance this child could have survived? I'm praying I wake up in the morning to good news. That the gator only bit an ankle and the child doggy paddled to a sandbar somewhere and waited for help.

I don't realistically see this happening, but I can't help but hope maybe this won't be a sad ending.

No matter what though, they need to hunt down this man eater and kill it.

They haven't found the kid. Why kill a wild animal for doing what it is supposed to for survival? If the parents of the kid had been holding onto their kid, it might not have happened.

I can't stand when animals are blamed/ killed for human error.

Seriously?? Alligators aren't supposed to attack humans. It's not a part of the natural food chain. Normally they are quite docile and avoid people, but this one has proven to be aggressive and now has a taste for human blood.

An LA station is reporting that the resort was having a movie night on the beach. Alligator was in shallow water and quickly snatched the toddler. Awful.

Is this a real thing? It sounds like a bad horror movie.

Okay.

Disney needs to empty all man made lagoons on it's property and kill the gators. Period.

That poor family...and every family that witnessed it!

Imagine the lawsuits. All the families who witnessed it will sue.

More posts on disboards that gator sightings at disney are common. Frightening.

Ugh. Reports of alligators in this lake as far back as 2009. This is from Disboard, a Disney listserv:

While at the River Roost Bar at Port Orleans Riverside last night, I met a man who was staying at the Poly for a convention.....

He mentioned he saw an alligator in the water while walking between the Poly and the Grand. He said he heard hissing first, then he saw it. He even caught some of it on video on his phone. I kid no one, on the video was the gator peeking up through the water, then coming on shore approaching the man. I told him the hissing was a warning and that the gator probably scurried up because he got too close to get it on the camera.

Liability out the wazoo. Resort hosted movie night on alligator-infested beach and kid died? I can't even begin to imagine how much they will pay.

It's not just this lagoon. People on disboards have spotted them at Magic Kingdom, at nearly every body of water on every property, golf course, wilderness trails, waiting for the ferry, etc.

How is this possible? Empty the bodies of water, kill the gators, and secure the perimeter.

This is so horrible - that poor family. Someone there on Twitter said the father was wrestling with the alligator. I feel so sick.

+1,000. Disney a corporation that only cares about revenue and investors. Such B.S. This poor family.

I've seen them there before - at the park 'man-made lagoon' one time when that riverboat wasn't up and running long term.
