Because human memory is extremely fallible and fear further distorts that. I would never think the father made it up on purpose and there certainly may have been another gator, but a memory made when your toddler is in the jaws of an alligator? [/quote]

It's very difficult to remember what happens during a robbery or attack, and you'll typically get 5 different descriptions of an intruder from 5 different witnesses. Not saying there wasn't a 2nd alligator but it could have been a log. The mind is funny and memory is not great in situations such as this father experienced. [/quote]
