Whoops! I was mistaken. I must have been thinking of one of THRU's proposals. Lee's Corner boundary is reasonable. It is Franklin whose kids south of 50 should go to Rocky Run. Why do they send some of Brookfield to Franklin? That makes no sense. |
Half of Floris, all of Fox Mill. They didn't need Floris for their little social reengineering project, as expected, with the boost, the Reston UMC kids ended up staying at Hughes/South Lakes rather than disappearing into the ether. |
OMG are you still complaining about boundary changes that happened 18 years ago? Kids have been born and graduated from high school since that happened. |
People still live here who remember and went through it. Many have kids that were and are still affected. I remember watching those Floris/FoxMill parents at School Board meetings begging for South Lakes to offer AP instead of IB. That was their complaint--not socioeconomics. |
What are you talking about?? You know there are dozens of people posting here, right? |
Franklin MS is within Lees Corner's boundaries, that is why Lees Corner kids go there. Anyway, I am looking at the maps and believe that Brookfield and Navy are also both split feeders to Franklin MS then Chantilly HS. It's not just Lees Corner and Oak Hill. |
And part of Cub Run. This region is so messed up. |
| Did anyone attend the boundary review meeting last night? |
No — everybody was too busy complaining on DCUM. |
I heard that the Superintendent was there at the meeting and they spoke about a version five of the boundaries that will be coming out. |
| Version five will have new HS or new high school plus other changes? |
It’s nearly impossible to make large unexpected changes at this point because the newly affected communities would be furious. But if anyone can make things worse than they already are, it’s this school board. |
I thought it was supposed to have just the new HS. I think the question is how many areas will be moved around to fill in the HS’s that will likely be losing kids to KAA (mostly Chantilly and Westfield). |
It will focus on the new high school changes and apparently the board can also make changes as well. But at this point no one on the Board should vote for this crap. |
| Well at some point soon it will no longer be “the consultant” and the board will need to own the maps. |
