lax culture from an insider

Jack Rowlett was clearly the best player in the DMV last year and one of the best ever to come out of this area. But yes, that Dad has an agenda because he posts the same 2-3 posts nonstop on this thread.

Are there some youth winter box leagues anyone would recommend? Do these leagues take players and allocate them to teams if a kid's club isn't entered in the league?

Get a life people, this is fucking stoooooopid. I played lacrosse all the way through, my son plays, my daughters play, and you dumbasses represents what I hate about lacrosse in this area.

Either did we... we had a good laugh over it.

They have a map of places downtown where you can pay guys to play your kids. I guess the guys are homeless ... not sure why you need to pay them. We were fine just being mediocre at chess.

It like the private trainers all the lax kids get but very, very different.

Laugh all you want. The parents at a typical scholastic chess tournament make lax sideline parents look like wussies. Couple the most intense immigrant aspirational zeal with helicopter parenting and drive for academic success and you have scholastic chess. Made worse by the requirement to hold your tongue during play. The local lax bros would get eaten alive in this environment.

This is true for chess. The parents are just as bad as *name your sport* but at least it's quiet

My nephew is currently ranked over 1700 at 9yo but in the end it ultimately comes down to talent and hard work. According to my bro, kids usually don't get private coaching until around 1200 unless they have crazy, pushy parents and there are those too.

Feeding some old stereotypes here. Some of these prep school dads need to find a lacrosse fantasy camp to go to for a few weeks.

I think most of the box leagues have fielded their teams by now.

The Annapolis indoor league will take individual kids who register and put them onto supplemental teams. That is a good league for box.

How many people on this forum live near Annapolis? The options in the DMV for box are:

Performance has a box league in Wheaton (Youth and HS)
Next Level has a box league at the Rockville Sportsplex (Youth)
Madlax ha a box league at the Dulles Sportsplex (Youth and HS)

If you're looking for an indoor hybrid league:

Performance has an indoor league at the Germantown Soccerplex (Youth and HS)
Triple Edge has an indoor league at the NoVA Field House and South Run

No idea if these leagues are full now. Check out their websites.

MoCo families are closer to Annapolis than Dulles. It is a much better league.

Only one of those leagues is in Dulles, and it's a shorter drive to Dulles than Annapolis. Regardless, the teams in that Annapolis league are terrible.

Severn, Calverton, St Mary's, DeMatha, etc. Yeah, terrible teams in that Annapolis league.

those are all good teams. what are you talking about?

The Annapolis league is a longer drive on Sundays but the lacrosse is better. Several MIAA teams and some top publics field teams. Then there are supplemental teams. Not sure about the Dulles league, but for many years Annapolis has had the one real box league. Not talking about outdoor lacrosse played inside, real box with smaller goals and box rules.

Nobody from this area is going to drive out to Annapolis to play box unless they play for one of the aforementioned schools.

There is a league that plays in Columbia, too. Mid Maryland Indoor lacrosse league.
