+1 People, we’re on day four of an eight week trial. She had to testify now because she will give birth at any minute. Are people truly this stupid? |
What is going to go on for 8 weeks? Just more of the same? More victims? His employees being called? Who will the defense even put forward as a witness to say this is all consensual and nothing to see here? |
“She first publicly accused Combs of threatening Mescudi and having his car blown up when she sued Combs for abuse in 2023. Combs quickly settled that lawsuit within a day for a previously undisclosed amount, though he admitted no wrongdoing. On Wednesday, Ventura revealed for the first time that she received $20 million to settle, CNN reports. “I wanted to be compensated for the time, the pain, the many many years of having to fix my life,” she said.” https://www.thedailybeast.com/cassie-names-the-people-who-saw-diddy-abusing-her-but-stayed-silent/?via=newsletter&source=DDAfternoon&user_emailA=e2cd5470d098258ec1f7f6ceda47e7c5&user_emailB=adda4f967c2d7602e688d47d59783c04b268f952c4f486df58e1f5fefae46b83&utm_content=control&utm_source=Sailthru&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=250514-Digest%20PM&utm_term=G%20List%20Daily%20Beast%20Newsletter%20PM |
“More of the same”? Are you for real? We’re going to hear from other victims, those who were not in a public relationship with him like Cassie. That is particularly important to show a pattern of abuse and coercion into sex acts. Even on this thread, you can see people victim blaming Cassie because she was with him for so long, but that’s not going to be the case with these other victims. We’re going to hear from people who were trafficked, former employees, etc. |
This^. It doesn't seem Diddy isn't a pervert criminal or not deserve all that's coming his way but a 22 year old with a college degree and professional job should know better or quickly gauge the situation and leave. |
You (and many other posters) don’t seem to understand the charges. Racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. Between 2008 and 2024, it is alleged that Combs abused, threatened multiple people and led a racketeering conspiracy that engaged in sex trafficking, forced labor, kidnapping, bribery and obstruction of justice. Consent to prostitution is not a defense. Consent to being sex trafficked is also not a defense. Funding and instructing others to engage in organizing sex trafficking and freak off parties is not a defense. Combs alleging I told Cassie to order the hookers, arrange their transportation and pay them and she willingly did it and then we all had our freak off and she consented (according to him) isn’t a defense. The very act of hiring prostitutes, and arranging their transportation is the definition of sex trafficking. So you may not like Cassie or her testimony or think she got what she deserved (WTF) but Combs was the ringleader and he’s guilty. More explanation of the charges can be found here: https://www.justice.gov/usao-sdny/pr/sean-combs-charged-manhattan-federal-court-sex-trafficking-and-other-federal-offenses |
Read the X page referenced above by PP. @jewelmansy is live tweeting the testimony. Some of the evidence will not be publicly released and there are privacy screens so only the jurors can see it. The prosecution and defense have binders with the photos. https://x.com/jewelmansy/status/1922910608657142058?s=46 He regularly beat the crap out of Cassie. They showed the jurors and asked her about it yesterday. It’s way worse than the one video. He also controlled her career. She was signed for a 10 album deal with him. She had no money or way to make money as an artist if she left. She was absolutely in an abusive relationship. Are we blaming women now? Why does any woman stay in an abusive relationship? All that said, the charges aren’t really about what he did to Cassie. The charges are sex trafficking and racketeering. Her testimony is corroborating that he hired prostitutes, had these freak offs and moved them across state lines which is a federal crime. She is also naming the employees who were there and who facilitated the freak offs which plays into the racketeering charge. Presumably those employees will be called over the next 8 weeks. |
+1 Shaking my head at some of these posts. |
Good for some of you that you understand the legalities of all this. Really thanks for sharing your knowledge even if it comes with a side of condescension. So far it hasn’t been explained in the trial and people are casual observers. |
If the charges aren’t about what he did to her why does she need to go into all this detail. |
Everyone knows he’s guilty and she was definitely abused. However she likes the money. She’s not doing a great job as Star witness as far as this case is concerned. |
Did you read or listen to the prosecution’s opening statement? |
The analysis I read on this point said that the prosecution is basically laying it all out there so that Cassie can tell her story in a friendlier environment before the defense rips into her on cross examination. The defense is going to try to make this about Cassie being a jealous scorned woman and try to discredit her. Cassie broke down several times during her testimony and had to take breaks etc. |
So it’s clear that Combs, not Cassie, is in the charge and at the top of racketeering ring. |
When there are bad facts about your witness, you always introduce them on direct to take out the power. It’s much more shocking to have it introduced on cross. It affects witness credibility. |
