“More of the same”? Are you for real? We’re going to hear from other victims, those who were not in a public relationship with him like Cassie. That is particularly important to show a pattern of abuse and coercion into sex acts. Even on this thread, you can see people victim blaming Cassie because she was with him for so long, but that’s not going to be the case with these other victims. Funding and instructing others to engage in organizing sex trafficking and freak off parties is not a defense. Combs alleging I told Cassie to order the hookers, arrange their transportation and pay them and she willingly did it and then we all had our freak off and she consented (according to him) isn’t a defense.

The very act of hiring prostitutes, and arranging their transportation is the definition of sex trafficking. So you may not like Cassie or her testimony or think she got what she deserved (WTF) but Combs was the ringleader and he’s guilty.

All that said, the charges aren’t really about what he did to Cassie. The charges are sex trafficking and racketeering. Her testimony is corroborating that he hired prostitutes, had these freak offs and moved them across state lines which is a federal crime. She is also naming the employees who were there and who facilitated the freak offs which plays into the racketeering charge. Presumably those employees will be called over the next 8 weeks.

The analysis I read on this point said that the prosecution is basically laying it all out there so that Cassie can tell her story in a friendlier environment before the defense rips into her on cross examination. The defense is going to try to make this about Cassie being a jealous scorned woman and try to discredit her. Cassie broke down several times during her testimony and had to take breaks etc.

I don't think you are the only one who thinks this. I think you are unempathetic and lack an understanding of human psychology and emotional and physical abuse cycles and how all that impacts a person, which is definitely nice for you.

Whenever I see people defending the kink community, I think this is the other side of it. Maybe they are consenting adults. Or maybe they are people who have been groomed and have a lot of trauma that are caught in a cycle where they can’t meaningfully consent.

In college I personally witnessed female peers in that 18 to 22 year old range willing sleep with groups of male athletes and male fraternity brothers and random boys from our dorm halls. They were consenting young adults regularly having unprotected group sex. Most of them are married with kids and I assume their spouses have no clue what they did 25 years ago.

Honestly, after seeing that in college the Diddy details really don’t shock me at all. Diddy is an obvious lifelong homosexual who displaces self hate onto women.

Not to mention Cassie was upwards of 30 years old while this continued. If she's the key witness, this is a joke. It's all detestable and gross but what felony crimes is she detailing? I want him to go to prison because he's a monster but it almost seems like the fix is in if this is all the gov presents.

She was a 22 yr old new artist when it started. Get real.

So a grown ass adult woman. Old enough to have a bachelor’s degree and be working at Goldman Sachs. Spare me with the vulnerable babe in the woods routine. And that hotel beating video she was 29 or 30? This is a joke if this is the best they have.

Read the X page referenced above by PP. @jewelmansy is live tweeting the testimony. Some of the evidence will not be publicly released and there are privacy screens so only the jurors can see it. The prosecution and defense have binders with the photos.

He regularly beat the crap out of Cassie. They showed the jurors and asked her about it yesterday. It’s way worse than the one video. He also controlled her career. She was signed for a 10 album deal with him. She had no money or way to make money as an artist if she left. She was absolutely in an abusive relationship. Are we blaming women now? Why does any woman stay in an abusive relationship?

All that said, the charges aren’t really about what he did to Cassie. The charges are sex trafficking and racketeering. Her testimony is corroborating that he hired prostitutes, had these freak offs and moved them across state lines which is a federal crime. She is also naming the employees who were there and who facilitated the freak offs which plays into the racketeering charge. Presumably those employees will be called over the next 8 weeks.

If the charges aren’t about what he did to her why does she need to go into all this detail.

The analysis I read on this point said that the prosecution is basically laying it all out there so that Cassie can tell her story in a friendlier environment before the defense rips into her on cross examination. The defense is going to try to make this about Cassie being a jealous scorned woman and try to discredit her. Cassie broke down several times during her testimony and had to take breaks etc.

When there are bad facts about your witness, you always introduce them on direct to take out the power. It’s much more shocking to have it introduced on cross. It affects witness credibility.
