Agreed. It’s more the timing of this that bugs me- happy to see more open this summer but would rather we wait a few more weeks and get more folks vaccinated/kids back in school. |
Where do you live? MoCo hasn't been at 13 for a month. Keep up! |
And again, no. You missed the point of my post. Hospitalizations and deaths come from middle and old people who are at risk of bad outcomes. There will be a few younger outliers who have underlying conditions and will get ill without the vaccine. But simple case rates now? No problem. |
We are going to have to agree to disagree. There are large numbers of under 65s, including those with health conditions that put them at increased risk of serious illness, who aren't yet eligible for the vaccine. Many of them are out there working in public in industries not yet eligible. For this population, the increase in cases which reflects increasing community spread is concerning. I don't see why we can't wait another 2-3 months to get more of this population vaccinated before removing restrictions. |

Here is an update on the authority of local government to establish their own restrictions under local authority.

| I am in my 50s, completely unable to get the vaccine in MD at this point, and there is no way I am showing up for in person dining, no matter what is open. Hopefully there will be enough people 18-35 to keep restaurants going during this time. |
You do realize that 56% of those above 65 are vaccinated in MD, right? I’ve seen lots of older folks out at restaurants. |
That’s way harsh PP |
Sure, for those 56%, if their spouses and the people who live with them are vaccinated. Otherwise, they can still.bring home an asymptomatic case. The vaccine doesn't deploy a plastic barrier around you, it just gives you enough immunity to fight off a Covid infection and/or milder version. But I'm all for as many people getting the vaccine and/or Covid and creating herd immunity, so I don't have to. |
