well , this is the same Bo and other so-called coaches had advocated for past 20 years here in the US. Most win HS games this way too. Far from real soccer - different sport. |
To parnets - do not be fulled here!!!! Summer permits are in place - they are easy to get since no one wants them. Fall is a different story, if they do not get a sufficient number of players, they will be on the grass at elementary schools together with all abgc rec teams with no lights. So hurry up and sign for VIVA - your pathway to pro soccer or may be to a waste of another season. Soccer parents, why these coaches always think we are idiots? FYI, most of the top kids have already signed with Arlington, Mclean etc. Lots of young ones went to Olympiacos from what I heard. |
I think it depends on the year. Some teams seem very light, others look to be the same as last year. I'm sure it depends on how well the team did last year. |
This is a flat out lie!!! Olympiacos also played 9 players as a favor. I am one of the parents and I was at the game. Olympiacos had stopped attacking after first half and only moved the ball around. They also did not use the top 3 guys and used no subs. Resting players for the final. Nothing was close to a tie. Completely different level - all Viva parents saw it. So do not know who is lying here. |
Yes and they did well there. Minor problem - all of these kids have already signed with other clubs. They are not with VIVA. |
It was a second team. A good organization should have a descent second and third teams as well. Especially if affiliated with the top European Academy. In a good organization more than 9 kids show to the tournament game as well. This only happens if the organization is falling apart. |
Methodology of any European Academy is based on selected talented players who are selected at the age of 5. This methodology hardly works here with all sorts of older players who do not have basic technical and tactical foundation thx to the American system and coaches. Therefore, Julio could not change anything - too many unskilled underdeveloped kids and bunch of poorly educated coaches. Not sure if Pep Guardiola would have been able to do anything here ![]() |
Fully agree, we should not jump for any of the Euro soccer Academies. But let's not be ignorant. Russian team was a goal away from a final al last WCup, Greece had won a European Cup a while ago. The US Nat team was lead by the Greek coach for a number of years. Can these teams teach good soccer? May be. Why not. VillaReal is at the bottom of the Laliga this year. Olympiacos is on top of their fairly strong league. Does any of this really matter? I think not. Using this logic DC United should not have the academy since they do not play good soccer and at the bottom of MLS. What matters is - the coaches you have on the filed. If they are good - players develop. Currently Olympiacos has very good coaches. Having only one small team per age group also helps the development of players. |
well, sorry Bo and Carlos, but … lets put things in perspective here. All sounds very uncertain and conditional. Let's start with the fields - if not enough kids sign up, they will get grass fields at elementary schools in the fall. VReal is basically pulling out - Julio will not return, coaches may come for a few days and will coach remotely form Spain ![]() All of this is nothing compared to financial problems. Bo is used to getting paid 80K. But now he will not even be able to pay himself. After paying for the fields and other coaches will be nothing left. These guys are coaches - not business people. Their thing will fold after the fall season. Sponsor are also not lining up. Best kids have already signed with other clubs. I like Bo, and feel sorry for him. He had a good job and now had been played by Carlos. Bo hates Laliga and Spanish soccer, which he sated to many players and parent on the filed just a couple of years ago. Now he has to kiss some Spanish a....s ![]() |
They may get a couple of teams. But... will struggle financially and will not get turf fields. |
Last part is funny. Unfortunately ABGC/VIVA have and will continue to be poorly managed. Too bad for a club that has a large community and could have done much better with what they had available. Bo/Kip and many of those that have been around for a long time should have been gone years ago. |
Stop trying to make Olympiacos a thing. DC United are currently one of the top teams in MLS unless you’re still stuck a couple seasons back. |
Why bashing on Olympiacos/Cougars, they are trying to put a good product together and grow. No one is saying they are "elite" but they have done well within their level of competition and it's good that they'll be in NCSL next year.
People are considering other options because VIVA/ABGC have once again shown that they are unorganized and incapable of running a soccer program. Those deciding to stay don't really understand the current soccer landscape in our area and that VIVA/ABGC are a sinking ship and have been on that road for many years. Drive an extra 15 minutes in any direction and you'll give your kids a much better soccer experience. |
Why are you on this website? It isn’t about cougars/olympiacos. So please tell me why you are on this site when it is talking about villarreal/viva? |
This *site* is talking about many different soccer-related topics |
