NNAT: 140
COGAT: (V / Q / NV / Composite) 122
GBRS: (#Consistent / #Frequent / #Occasional) : Don't know
In-Pool: (Y/N) Y
Parent Referral: (Y/N) No
WISC:
Zip Code:
AAP Decision: (IN / NOT IN) . IN

Really surprised to see DS being selected. After seeing COGAT score I didn't had any hope and didn't bother about parent referral. Curious to know the GBRS score (Anyone know if we get to know the GBRS score).
Little worried now if he can cope with the AAP curriculum as COGAT score was not great compare to other kids.

GBRS ?

Not in.

I’m thinking about appealing. Do I have to schedule a WISC?

This was my post and I just got her packet. GBRS were 2 consistently and the rest were frequently. Great teacher comments. DRA is 34. Area of strength in both math and reading. I did not submit any work samples and the ones submitted were really terrible. All 4s on report cards.

I would definitely schedule a WISC and appeal.

If the WISC comes back low, still appeal with new work samples and parent letter. As long as you submit something that wasn't in the first packet they will consider the appeal.

Contact your AART and ask them for a copy of your son's file. It will have a copy of the GBRS

A lot of kids get accepted with CogAT scores in the low 120s. Those parents just aren't posting about it on dcum. He will be fine in AAP as long as he can keep up with the math.

My son scored 124 on COGAT and got in. He is the best in math in his class and attends RSM as well. Zero concerns about keeping up with math at AAP. That is all to say that you should not take your child's COGAT score as a predictor of his success at AAP math.

DP here. I will get my packet on Monday but I don’t understand why your kid was rejected.

The other thread said they may reject you if the committee suspects prepping. How would they know or why would they think that? This is just an anonymous forum but it bothers me greatly if my kid is indeed rejected because his score is too high.

We are IN. Zero prep. Borderline scores. Good teacher rating/ok comments.

I submitted writing and art samples.

Don’t give up if you think it’s the right fit! Appeal, and try again next year if need be.

I’m the person who posted conspiracy theories about prepping. I doubt they reject kids because scores are too high. I think they reject when the GBRS and work samples are inconsistent with the high scores.

How could this even be possible?

God, it’s almost like they mixed up the accepted/rejected letters.

If they did, would they even admit it?

Would anyone know if it is very dependent on zip code? We had 140 on NNAT and 130 on COGAT. Submitted recommendations, Art, writing samples and parent questionnaire. NOT IN
