| Particular cases aside, the N/S differences in teacher retention should be a concern for APS. |
Do you have data on turnover rates at the various schools to give a sense of the magnitude of the problem? A one-time snapshot of APS job listings doesn’t tell us much. |
All Arlington schools are great! |
I’m sure APS can’t wait to study this. |
So no data. You're simply asserting it as a fact when it's really just speculation. Okay. |
Said no one (with a brain) ever. |

Faldo staff said to my face all APS schools are great...
Seriously it’s a mess and the fact that it can’t be acknowledged means it will never be solved. |
You really just can’t go wrong with any of them. |
You really must have low expectations. |
Especially recent ones, with shifting of principals and asst principals to different schools as staff is gathered for Drew when Montessori moves out, plus aforementioned maternity leaves/departures, and retirement of long-standing staff. If departures due to maternity are higher in the south, then that might say something about the ages and years of experience of teachers in south schools v. north. |
Especially Discovery, which is presumably why a certain senior APS administrator paid a premium to live in that schools zone a couple years ago. |
Can someone please translate this?? |
There’s a repeat poster who is personally offended that the Asst. Superintendent of Teaching and Learning lives in the Discovery zone. |
It’s a commonly used phrase in n Arlington. |
Especially when speaking to those in South Arlington. Sounds much better than “shut up and accept what you’re given.” |
