No idea on GBRS. Is there any reason I should find out DC's GBRS score, or does it not matter now that DC is in?

oh sorry my 9 y/o, 4th grade dd only got 99 percentile on her SOL reading but not on her math (lower 90) as I didn't care to motivate her working on her math. I thought reading is a much more important skill; thus, I completely neglected her math skills.
Until after the SOL score, I ordered the 5th grade math exercise in October and she breezed thru it..works on it a few times a week...15 minutes or so each day.

Doesn’t matter but good to have and to know in general just for your info/school records. I requested my child’s.

Agree. It’s nice to have the packet because it’s a lot more information written specifically about your child than you will ever see on a report card.

To be honest, we didn’t do anyone of them. And 80 percentile ain’t gonna cut it.

Don't know GBRS.

Breast milk, vaccinated, limited screen time, WOHM, daycare baby, neglected 2nd child, has a big head in porportion to body.

Totally unnecessary. We are past this joking, killing time waiting for the results phase. This thread is to help others in the future years. Just keep to the results.

DP. Are you reading the same thread I am? Due to our out-of-control craziness, there are two concurrent threads and both are filled with extraneous posts.

Some of us are heading into appeals now so we aren't passed that phase. I appreciated it.

While I don't buy that there is this much favoritism I do think that when a parent is more visible the child is also more visible. The school committee may have more to write about on the GBRS form and the like if parent/child are simply in their face more.

Agree with pp. If the parent is active with the school and well-liked, the child stands out more, and the teacher is more likely to remember specific details for the GBRS and subconsciously, want to help the kid out.

Maybe she doesn't prefer it, but has to, because hey it's a free education. Not everyone can afford private.

Ok. This posting says a lot about you and your kid.
1. Your kid didn't get into AAP.
2. Your kid's CogAt score: less than 80% (btw, 80% is not even enough for the cut)
3. You never go to school for your kid. You might not even remember your kid's teacher's name. And somehow you feel proud of it.

I'm not an active member of PTA, I don't volunteer at school since I'm a full time working mom. My kid asks me how come I don't come to school like other moms, I feel sorry for my kid, I don't feel proud of myself at all.
I do have a lot of respect for those PTA moms, they work hard. Yes, they do it mostly for their own kids but, my kid get benefits from them too. They are people who help teachers and school.
I have no problem that teachers/school pay attention to their kid a bit more.
And there are kids who stand out no matter what. It doesn't matter if you kiss ass your teacher or not. Teacher and school can't ignore those kids.

So, either help your kids do better,
Or volunteer at school and try to be nice to teachers. Have you ever try to be nice to people around you? It's your kid's teacher, nothing wrong about you bake cookies for her/him and say thank you once a while.
If you don't want to do anything, just stop talking here do your own thing. I feel bad for your kid.

A lot of us can volunteer the day of events or remotely and give our teachers small tokens of appreciation. That isn't ass kissing. My children stand out easily on their by their behavior and in academics. I know several parents who volunteer a lot whose kids are not in AAP.
