Well, apparently the Johnson's mom was also in the car and heard what was said. She told Washington Post that she felt it was an insult to her, her DH, her son, and his family. Is she allowed to speak about this?

Correct. I've posted the actual question by the reporter several times. No one asked him if he had called the officers' family members. She asked why there had been no public statement from the president on the simultaneous loss of four Green Berets.
