Who did you think killed JonBenet?

I'm having a hard time picturing an older guy with heart disease lifting up an outdoor window grate and squeezing into the house through that little window in the basement. I'm also having a hard time buying that a guy with a bad heart was spending 45 minutes to 2 full hours sexually assaulting JonBenet before strangling her - in her own home with her parents and brother sleeping upstairs. In fact, I thought I read somewhere that the sexual abuse may have happened after her skull was cracked and after she had already been strangled....

This guy knew that the Ramseys were going on a trip the next day. How would he know what time Patsy was going to get up to pack and get ready or how late she would stay up packing? Weren't the suitcases downstairs? What if John or Patsy had opted to go downstairs to get one? And then to think that Mrs. McReynolds was somehow involved in this too? That really seems unlikely.

I agree. An intruder whether it was someone they knew or some random stranger seems really unlikely in any case, but this guy:

Would have left Santa DNA all over the place. As mishandled as the police investigation was (mainly for political reasons), it would be nearly impossible for McReynolds to do all this and not leave a single strand of his beard behind.

I wonder if it's possible that an intruder was in that room with JonBenet's body and holding the door shut on the other side. Maybe he was going to wait for John to get back with the ransom money, kill the family and flee with the $118K.....then Patsy called the cops. Oops. Somehow he got out of there w/o being seen. Maybe through that unlocked door (that used to be locked?).

Yet, another theory.

No, it was a windowless basement wine cellar. It was probably locked.

There's no way for someone to be able to walk out/flee unnoticed with the house crawling with cops.

I thought at one point the cops had left leaving Patsy, John and Burke alone with one female detective. One of their male friends arrived at the house and the detective told John to walk around the house and see if anything looked out of place. John went with his friend down to the basement where John found JonBenet in the wine cellar and I think I remember reading somewhere that the friend actually looked in that wine cellar first but didn't notice JonBenet laying there (so odd???), John is the one who saw her in there.

I guess the question is, would it have been possible for an intruder to be downstairs hiding in that wine cellar and holding the door shut on the other side so that it appeared jammed during the police search. And then once the police left and the detective was alone with Patsy, John and Burke would there have been time for the intruder to sneak back up the stairs and go out through the kitchen (chef pantry?) door before John and his friend went downstairs to look around?

Yes, this is how she was found. Very odd. And I do believe there was a basement window. Not in the wine cellar, but in the basement. And some TV special on the subject several years ago said that there was a footprint or somethings g outside of that window. This tv show was focusing on some neighbor who was a known pedophile or something.

The book by the lead police investigators said no one got in through the basement window, there were undisturbed spider webs running across it.

I think there is just too much bad and wrong information and that too little investigative experience coupled with many other errors means that even the evidence could end up being not evidence.

Ex - the mystery DNA sample - I wouldn't be surprised to find out that it was just a lab error. reason for death - wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have it wrong and she did die of a head wound.

It's the day after Christmas and your daughter is missing -- you would be searching running room to room checking outside and inside right? Calling your friends to see if she got outside and walked to their houses. Maybe took her bike for a ride. Unless you knew all along where she was which is sad -- I don't think it was intentional but I think maybe she hit her head as Patsy was changing the sheets or her clothes after the bed wetting.

They were distraught on the 911 call.

The female detective said it was an eerie calm that they greeted her as if nothing strange was going on . That is odd.

The detective was very narrow minded. The spider web theory was a joke. I vacuum my basement windows all the time and guess what? The next day the spider webs are back!

The female detective said this to who? Where did you read or see this?

So many people are posting things, but how do we distinguish between what is fact and what is just something posted on the internet and not 100% fact.

I saw that video on Youtube. I think the word that the female investigator used to describe John Ramsey that day was "cordial".

Sort of. I would suggest you read up on websleuths on the case.

I don't know where to start with this sentence.

It's a site about crime cases where people post evidence and analyze things.

Point is, Mary Lacy "cleared" them based on minuscule DNA evidence at a contaminated crime scene. It was clear that she did it unilaterally and that her successor did not agree.

Yeah I could guess what "websleuths" is, but thanks.

Then not clear on your confusion?

I am so enjoying this back and forth--carry on pps.

The crime scene was completely botched by police. The dad came up the stairs screaming and carrying her body when he found her and brought her into the living room. The family was in shock.

If that guy showed up at the Ramsey house dressed in his Santa suit and with that beard - there would be evidence of that somewhere in that house.

The ransom note was written as a decoy. It got personal at the end when it started to refer to Mr. Ramsey as John. One part said, "Use that good southern common sense of yours." The letter turned mocking as if the person writing it knew him. He did not know him that well though. The Ramseys had moved from Atlanta and Patsy was from the south. John was not southern though he was from the Midwest. Also the $118,000 was his bonus from earlier that year. That number would have been on every single pay stub. A pay stub could have been found during the Ramsey open Christmas party.
