In honor of the recently passed Bill Paxton, the movie "A Simple Plan". Great plot, great actors. Surprising.

Mon Roi or My King with Vincent Cassel. Excellent. You can get it on Amazon with subtitles. I read screenwriter wrote the character with Cassel in mind and that this somewhat biographical based on his relationship with Monica Belucci (which blows my mind).

Maybe not as powerful as some of these, but it took a turn I did not see coming. It is about bullying.

The usual suspects

Shocked to see this. Have you read Roger Elbert's review of this movie? I'm pretty sure he hated this movie more than every other movie ever made.
Here is a quote from the review "The secrets of the plot must remain unrevealed by me, so that you can be offended by them yourself, but let it be said this movie is about as corrupt, intellectually bankrupt and morally dishonest as it could possibly be without David Gale actually hiring himself out as a joker at the court of Saddam Hussein." As for the OP's question. I suggest The Fall directed Tarsem. Stunningly beautiful on location filming.
