Or even more likely: nobody knows who the hell this person is because they're a stranger. Don't perpetuate the myth that black people won't talk to the police. |
If this is the kind of logic that governs the work of journalists, I can't think why they've lost my confidence! |
We don't have the facts yet. You don't know. Just stop, alright? Stop judging. |
What's the holdup (pardon the pun) in the police getting the facts? |
Still under investigation. Therefore private and confidential . Like I said, you don know. |
Police normally update the public when there's an "ongoing investigation". Remember? |
Ya' might think someone downtown would like this story to go away. |
Wasn't there a police community meeting tonight to discuss this? Why didn't you go? |
The 7eleven gets looted on Easter Monday every year, nothing new there. |
Here is the article about the meeting: http://www.washingtonpost.com/local/crime/neighbors-seek-answers-after-shooting-near-national-zoo/2014/04/23/0c9182f4-cafe-11e3-a75e-463587891b57_story.html?hpid=z2 |
Attendance is dropping anyway, for good reason. This event will die out on its own. |
From the WaPo article:
"Zoo officials had expelled about three dozen rowdy youths minutes before the shooting Monday, and D.C. police said a crowd of about 100 young men and women had converged near the front gate about that time. Within minutes, two shots were fired, injuring a 16-year-old and his 18-year-old friend." Looks like our poster(s) who have been saying the shooting was related to attendance at the zoo was (were) correct.... |
Particularly disturbing, that the youths were unconcerned about police presence. No wonder residents are feeling the way they are!!
"D.C. police Capt. Melvin Gresham said at the meeting that officers followed the expelled groups as they left the zoo but were unable to prevent the shooting." |
But how would you truly know unless you were there? |
How can you say that? The article also says this, "Authorities also don’t know whether the shooter was among those expelled or if the person had even been in the zoo." This is not something that should be treated like a debate topic in which each side tries to score points selectively choosing facts. That is simply divisive and not helpful to finding a solution. |
