Oh, the Beeb isn't biased much! There is no unbiased media imo. The media either support Palestinians (most) or support Israel (some) - but to find analysis by someone without an agenda is truly rare. |
I got lost by this whole "poster this..poster that..." conversation awhile back! ![]() |

This is why the Israelis were foolish to try to stop Hamas in this way. There was an article in the WaPo this morning with interviews of wounded Gazans in an Egyptian hospital. Several people say that before the war they weren't great supporters of Hamas but now they are. Israel may succeed in crippling Hamas temporarily but it has recruited a whole new generation that will want to get revenge for the innocent civilians who were killed. Here are two excerpts from the article: 1) "I supported neither Hamas nor Fatah," said Anwar el-Sahabani, 35, a carpenter with a casts on his right leg and left arm, the result of an airstrike. He was referring to Hamas's rival party. "Today, after all that has happened, I have to support Hamas." 2) Moments later, Khalid began to cry. "We have no place for us in Gaza," he said. "Gaza has been destroyed." "I did not support Hamas before," he added. "Now, I do. The whole world is conspiring against Hamas. And the number one conspirer is the United States." |
I agree.
Isreal has done a good job of stressing the goal of the war. To beat Hamas But very little thought to the method. civilians die like flies. Who has the time to count them? |
I'm a soldier of freedom in the army of man
We are the chosen, we're the partisan The cause it is noble and the cause it is just We are ready to pay with our lives if we must And we don't give a damn who the killing is for It's the same old story with a different name Death or glory, it's the killing game Nothing gonna stop them as the day follows the night Right becomes wrong, the left becomes the right |

Well, the neighborhood bully, he's just one man,
His enemies say he's on their land. They got him outnumbered about a million to one, He got no place to escape to, no place to run. He's the neighborhood bully. The neighborhood bully just lives to survive, He's criticized and condemned for being alive. He's not supposed to fight back, he's supposed to have thick skin, He's supposed to lay down and die when his door is kicked in. He's the neighborhood bully. The neighborhood bully been driven out of every land, He's wandered the earth an exiled man. Seen his family scattered, his people hounded and torn, He's always on trial for just being born. He's the neighborhood bully. Well, he knocked out a lynch mob, he was criticized, Old women condemned him, said he should apologize. Then he destroyed a bomb factory, nobody was glad. The bombs were meant for him. He was supposed to feel bad. He's the neighborhood bully. Well, the chances are against it and the odds are slim That he'll live by the rules that the world makes for him, 'Cause there's a noose at his neck and a gun at his back And a license to kill him is given out to every maniac. He's the neighborhood bully. He got no allies to really speak of. What he gets he must pay for, he don't get it out of love. He buys obsolete weapons and he won't be denied But no one sends flesh and blood to fight by his side. He's the neighborhood bully. Well, he's surrounded by pacifists who all want peace, They pray for it nightly that the bloodshed must cease. Now, they wouldn't hurt a fly. To hurt one they would weep. They lay and they wait for this bully to fall asleep. He's the neighborhood bully. Every empire that's enslaved him is gone, Egypt and Rome, even the great Babylon. He's made a garden of paradise in the desert sand, In bed with nobody, under no one's command. He's the neighborhood bully. Now his holiest books have been trampled upon, No contract he signed was worth what it was written on. He took the crumbs of the world and he turned it into wealth, Took sickness and disease and he turned it into health. He's the neighborhood bully. What's anybody indebted to him for? Nothin', they say. He just likes to cause war. Pride and prejudice and superstition indeed, They wait for this bully like a dog waits to feed. He's the neighborhood bully. What has he done to wear so many scars? Does he change the course of rivers? Does he pollute the moon and stars? Neighborhood bully, standing on the hill, Running out the clock, time standing still, Neighborhood bully. -Bob Dylan |
Okay this was touching the first time around but now, enough with the song lyrics. |
We both lie silently still
In the dead of the night Although we both lie close together We feel miles apart inside Was it something I said or something I did Did my words not come out right Though I tried not to hurt you Though I tried But I guess thats why they say Every rose has its thorn Just like every night has its dawn Just like every cowboy sings his sad, sad song Every rose has its thorn |
Name this tune:
Well I guess it would be nice if I could touch your body I know not everybody has got a body like you. But I've got to think twice before I give my heart away And I know all the games you play because I played them too. Oh but I need some time ofF from that emotion Time to pick my heart up off the floor. Oh when that love comes down without devotion Well it takes a strong man baby but I'm showins you the door. Because I've got to have.... |

Hamas' Dead Baby Strategy
Alan Dershowitz http://washingtontimes.com/news/2009/jan/16/hamas-dead-baby-strategy/ |
juancole.com jewishvoiceforpeace.com Anything by Glenn Greenwald on salon.com Bill Moyers commentary on PBS And the ever-fabulous Jon Stewart, who got a massive amount of flak for daring to say (oh, the humanity!) that media coverage of this issue, and discussion by our senators and representatives, represents only one side. Jan 5 The Daily Show. And everyone knows that Jon beats that hack Alan Dershowitz any day. ![]() |
I'm not crazy about Hamas myself but Dershowitz has just gone off the scales. I used to respect him but the man has just gone hysterical.
That's like saying that Israel likes riling Hamas up because the pictures from the rocket attacks on Israel give it lots of sympathy -- that Israel is sacrificing its population in order to get good pictures. Boy, did Jon Stewart have gonads for that piece he did on Gaza. I was so surprised to see him take such a strong stand. It suggests that things are genuinely changing. But of course, Dershowitz would probably say that Hamas had it all planned that way! |
What a sad situation.
I am sick and tired of hearing about this. Always the same whine. One thing is guaranteed. There is no peace and there will be no peace. Do we have to listen to this? Why not let them bomb to their hearts content and carry on until only 1 person is left standing? |
