So easy to disregard the plight of the poor, to paint them as a collective caricature of common misfits and miscreants. So easy to criticize social programs like welfare designed to help those less fortunate - especially when we don't perceive the poor as simply less fortunate but a subculture of shady shallow unethical irresponsible slackers who don't deserve such help and aren't worthy of any assistance.
So easy to pass judgement and make generalizations and subscribe to stereotypes and sling accusations at an entire demographic if you forget the fact that they are actual people with real struggles. Feel free to continue with your subjective unsympathetic presumptions. |
