Every state has a list like this; it's just a matter of finding which state you love. Aside from that: "silly liberal morons"? How delightful you must be in person. |
| I grew up in Virginia (not NoVA) and went to school in Virginia too. I now work in DC but live in NoVA. I will not raise children in Virginia. |
|
You shouldn't. I grew up in VA and will never go back. Schools in MoCo (south of Clarksburg) trounce VA schools.
People whine about (marginally) lower taxes but services are better here. Ex: our son has autism. Therapy services are provided free of charge (point of service). Yeah, blah blah blah, nothing is free blah blah blah taxes. I'd rather pay the extra little bit of property taxes and whatnot for services like this than watch anyone mortgage their life away completely or live as beggars in order to care for their child. More examples but this one hits closest to me and I'd the reason my family will never leave MoCo. |
Because VA is considered "south" - which has a negative connotation. One of which is that people are too tightly wound, and try to be in each other's business without knowing anything about that person - it is not difficult to see that. |
+2 I think VA has a hard time being "not the best" - and try to cite accordingly, as a reaction. It is humorous to see in action, though.

But your former governor is going to be the next president of the United States |
"Dueling Banjos" playing....... |
Keep those low test scores out of va |
Huh? Md is the richest , highest educated and highest scores state in the United States. |
Especially in Allegany, Cecil, Garrett and Washington counties. |
Ummmm... I have a special needs kid in Arlington. Therapy services have been free. |
Very well put. This perfectly describes what I've tried to convey to my brother every holiday about liberal elitism. He denies it exists, ha ha |
I was born when my parents were living in a trailer in cecil county. However, they both held graduate degrees. I know of several people I went to school with in my early years who live in the DC metro area now and are doing quite well. Most live in the MD burbs - I wound up in VA but have no connection to the state and would have zero problem crossing back into MD if it made sense for us commute wise. I do realize that Cecil doesn't have great numbers for education and many other indicators, but it isn't completely full of uneducated hicks. And downtown Elkton as well as North East are quite charming. |
| I live in Maryland. There are some good and not so good things about our state. I think Virginia's great. Northern Virginia is not part of Virginia- and don't take my word for it, ask somebody from Roanoke, Danville, Richmond...etc. I don't think "Virginia sucks," but I am not a fan of NOVA. |
