The bickering over this item or that item at store x and store y is ridiculous. It's plain to anyone paying attention that costs are way up.

I don't always know what the regular price is for this or that item. But I do pay attention to my food budget in general and it has crept up by about 30-40% over the past year and a half or so.

Agree. Anyone trying to nitpick prices is just being disingenous.
ANYONE who regularly grocery shops knows the prices have increased rapidly.

We are a $350k HHI family of 4 and I'm aware of our financial fortune but that still gives me anxiety because I know soon it will require so much more to keep the standard of living we know. Within 5 years, this country will be hell for anyone on less than $150kpp min in a major metro area when considering average cost of living.

Don't worry. You will still vote blue for local elected officials who will be happy to collect your taxes and fritter them away with failed redistribution policies.

A case of garbage domestic lager (Coors, Miller) is THIRTY DOLLARS. I lived on $30 a week in college in the late 90s.

Two years ago, the chips were $6, and the carrots and radishes were routinely $0.99.

What the hell is actually going on? Where is the money going?

I make my own pita/nacho chips. I also buy veggies that does not get overly sprayed with pesticides from Asian grocery stores. So all root veggies are sourced from Asian grocery stores. I but the carrots and radishes, scrub and wash them, air dry them and then cut it into sizes and shapes that I want.

BTW - baby carrots are a fraud and a nothing burger. It is full grown carrots shaved into these tiny shapes.

Stop drinking alcohol. Instead brew your own kombucha.

Also...Trump is the result of America's collective bad Karma sent to kick our collective backsides. His boots are still not buried deep in the aaaaaahhh-nus still. So that's the hell that is actually going on. Yer welcome.

What would make you think that Asian grocery stores don’t use pesticide? That seems backwards. China is not exactly known for food safety.

My ex takes his gf on exotic vacations.

We're still married and I make him pay the credit card for me and all our adult children on the allowance plan.

If he hates it he can legally divorce me but he knows I'll take away lot of his stuff. He looks very bad on paper.

Until then, I've got carte blanche.

I basically just order whatever I want. But lots of it is also in the name of our kids. My daughter borrowed my credit card and put down $2600 on her sick 2 yo cat.

He has to pay that.

I think what’s crazy is they’re expected to increase 40% by August.

Now that the current administration cut screw worm funding, it's back and has been found in two cattle in Texas. Beef is a out to go up even more.

People are definitely changing their shopping habits and billionaires will be so shocked when there's no middle class to buy products any more.

God help us. I think a lot of people are giving in and being tricked by trump admin who wants us to believe all is well- but it’s clearly not.

I've been saying this for years- we will see a large migration away from the cities soon. It is unsustainable. AI will only expedite this.

I remember when DC was the murder capital and full of blighted neighborhoods. Change comes and goes.

I get my groceries from Aldi. They are at least 1/2 of other stores and cheap enough that it affords me to be lazy and pay to have someone else do my shopping and deliver it. Giant was always way too expensive for what you get.

Quite a bold claim? Says who? What are you including in the 40%? You see how ridiculous this claim is? Just because you saw a clickbait article doesn't make it true.
