Collins has openly discussed her essential tremor diagnosis, which in no way impedes emotional or intellectual capacity and which voters have seen in action for five terms.

I’ve worked many years as an advocate and prosecutor with veterans and others with total disability rating from PTSD. I have empathy for their conditions and what they suffered to develop PTSD, but the vast majority I would not trust to dog sit for me, much less around my kids, much less to serve in one of the most powerful roles in our government.

If Platner is still fully disabled PTSD, it makes no sense to suggest he’s fit to serve. If he’s fit to serve, he’s cheating the system by collecting full benefits on the diagnosis which is no longer valid.

Or he can provide the records to clarify the situation and remove the concern entirely.

Although I don’t much like Susan Collins’ politics in recent years she’s not a die hard MAGA, she’s actually reviled by them as being a RINO, she voted to convict Trump in the J6 impeachment and I have little doubt she was sick that the electorate put him back in the WH and she’s stuck trying to balance on a fence post for two more years until some normalcy returns.

For the record, I’m a lifelong unaffiliated independent and very liberal voter who donated to Platner’s campaign last September before all the lies and ugliness came to light. I’m all for most of his messages in the stump speech, but I find his deceitful character incredibly troubling and his misogyny and bigotry offensive - and those things aren’t caused by PTSD, so he hasn’t properly explained and sought forgiveness for those things either.

Platner should have had a better plan for confronting these concerns up front other than trying to lie to the electorate and then blaming it on PTSD or ‘I never knew.’ He’s more and more obviously an entitled jerk who thinks he can get away with whatever. And sadly too many Mainers are letting him.

PP keeps insisting that his rating requires UNEMPLOYABILITY when there are categories that carry no work restrictions including 1) a combined 100% rating OR 2) the 100% Schedular Rating for PTSD which requires total occupational impairment at the time of the exam. In both cases, if you can find ways to manage symptoms there are no restrictions.

From what I have read Platner reached the 100% threshold with physical injuries (herniated discs, shoulder, knees) plus PTSD plus hearing loss.

It is entirely legitimate for him to work. We want veterans to get the support they need and return to work, remember?

Ifa vet has a combination of multiple conditions (for example PTSD, bad knees, and a shoulder injury, they can mathematically add up to 100%. There are absolutely no income or work restrictions for a schedular rating.

This. I respect people who've served in the armed forces and don't respect people who cheat the system. Both can be true at the same time. If Platner is able and well enough to run an oyster farm and represent the entire state of Maine in the U.S. Senate, he shouldn't be collecting 100% VA disability, which is meant to compensate veterans for impairments that affect their ability to work.
