Treat mental health issues
Return SROs - they get to know the kids, and learn which ones are trouble v which ones are in trouble, and put a stop to a bunch of trouble before it happens

How many students were shot when Doug Nelson was principal?

Remember he was removed because he was alleged to have discouraged staff from completing required training by his supervisor. An allegation he was later exonerated of.

The answer is zero.

I heard that the victim had an ankle bracelet and him and another kid “jumped” the shooter prior to the incident. After which he came back with the gun. I read it in comments on YouTube Fox 5 live coverage chat. Lids were posting there from their phones while waiting in lockdown.

If DCPS can make their schools safer certainly MCPS can. It is 2026. So many security companies work to prevent what happened today. MCPS is too cheap to invest in the safety of its students, faculty and staff. Of course it starts at home, but not every home is so great. Mental health resources that are actually available and affordable, stricter gun laws and of course let's make our schools up to date with security measures.

Jackson Reed HS was able to stop various weapons by using detectors. Not sure what they/community/district members did to get detection in place
