UVA ADMISSIONS ALREADY SAID 82k. |
I think removal of supplemental essays is a huge reason. It’s very easy to just add another school to the list if all you have to do is pay another application fee. I have a son at UVA so I’m not knocking it at all - I just think that’s probably the case. |
Rising reputation? Please help me understand this- I thought UVA always had a great reputation and was popular |
Last year, there was a required essay and an optional essay, in addition to the CA essay. This year, all you had to do was check the box and put in your credit card number. No more extra essays of any kind. |
Great stats and I am sorry about the rejection. Really shouldn't be from the stats. However, I am curious how parents evaluate "extremely strong personal statement" as that seems quite subjective to the school and their mission statement. |
| Accepted to Engineering. public, oos. 1580 SAT. 4.97w, 4.0w. 12 APs (5's so far). |
OP here, I said that based of college counselor & essay coach feedback to DC. |
| Does anyone know the chances with deferred? |
The football team had a good year, probably helped with applications. I know the numbers went up after the basketball team won national championship |
Following from ED and from EA … for both |
|
Accepted instate engineering. Max rigor (14 IB/AP) 3.97 UW-4.46 1450 SAT (790 math)
This was a huge relief after a VT waitlist!! Deferred to GT. |

The numbers are not inflated. Please note that every single acceptance listed here tonight is at or exceeds the SCHEV 75th percentile which is 4.5 GPA, 1510, 35 ACT. Everyone. The fact that you want to factor in some mythical lower scores represented by the test-optional students is irrelevant. Students in NOVA need to aim for the 75th percentile. Please don't keep saying this because parents rely on this forum and get their hopes up when someone says to ignore SCHEV. |
You are 100% wrong |
|
If you are in NOVA, it is very hard to get into UVA even with 35+ ACT and 1550+ SAT and incredible ECs. You are compared to the peers at your high school. At my child’s school those peers also have great applications. I have no idea how they pick one great kid over another. For every amazing kid who got an acceptance tonight there’s an amazing kid who didn’t.
It does all work out in the end. I mean, if your absolute dream is UVA do the community college associate’s degree route and transfer. |
