Not if you look at the leagues as totals. Ecnl gets more college recruits and more P4 recruits. With that said you would rather be a playoff GA team than a bottom half ECNL team. There are not as many high quality GA programs but there are still enough to get 200+ college coaches to GA events.

At the end of the day, take your kid to a place that is 1. Fits your lifestyle in terms of location or travel commitments 2. Has good coaching 3. Allows you to play against the most competitive environment in practice and games that fits your kids ability.

Then go to the ID camps that you “match for attractiveness” with. I am always shocked how little play ID camps get. I know of a couple of coaches that took literally all of their recruits from ID camps. They see you for 8 hours a day for a couple of days vs snippets of a game here or there at various showcases.

I agree with your assessment on ID Camps. Yes they usually cost around $200. Yes they are a moneymaker for college coaches. But its hard to argue with being seen for 8 hours a day by a coach you're looking to play for.

Is it true VRSC is inviting him and his crew to leave the OneFamily?

Why would they? Almost every team has improved vs. last year. The guy literally has multiple Nat’l Championships, USWNT and USYNT players under his belt.

There are three GA coaches, CC, MJ, and JU. ED and JJ are just hanging around the sidelines and have nothing to do with the GA teams' performance this year, although they'll have a role for any future homegrown ulittle talent. CC has a track record that is matched by very few coaches in the DMV, that's just a fact, but things don't seem to be headed in the right direction for his teams. If he and VRSC parted ways, who would replace him? Hard to imagine the club could attract someone with a better track record. MJ used to coach at FCV (he left several years before CC) but he was not a GA coach there, and he coached some very bad VRSC teams before the GA era began. JU did not come to VRSC via FCV, he came through the boys side and this is his first year coaching with CC. What do people think about him? It's easy to complain about the coaches, but turning around a program as weak as VRSC's girls program was never going to happen overnight. Maybe it never will. FCV rarely developed ulittle talent, instead they stole it from other clubs, but VRSC is not in a position to steal top talent from anyone.

I guess you were not around years ago when this board was filled with hate for BP. At that time it was commonly said BP was taking credit for CC’s work.

Except the results this year indicate it was BP's work after all. C doesn't hold his players accountable for their shortcomings and therefor they never develop. E is the same. They just pick favorites and try to ride the wave. In this case, the wave is crash and burn. Then there is MJ who is just bad. He has no clue what is occuring right in front of him. His practices consists of lectures and players being disconnected, standing around bored. E ran away from the 11's because he failed them and lots of complaints. M stepped in and basically failed even worse. The only people not complaining are the favorites who get to play the whole game. Those are the very players who don't get better. These coaches don't really care because the clubs don't do anything about it and they still get their large paycheck for baby sitting.

I don't know the details on the 11s and how these guys failed them but is it possible they're just not that good? What was the failure?

- With that said if you are playing at Arlington, Bethesda, Fairfax Union, MD United, NVA, Richmond United, VDA or VRSC it’s your goal & dream to play d1. Anything beneath that soccer wise is a bust. Players playing & spending less on ECNL RL, EDP, GA Aspire or NCSL are making d3 rosters without spending as much & traveling.

Good point! VRSC talks a good game about getting D1 placement but doesn't deliver. VDA is the winner this year and the best players will be looking for a new place to play come March/April.

Everything I read threads that turn into this type of conversation about P4 and D1, D2, etc it just makes no sense when people actually think about.

Approx 350 kids a year commit to P4...that is it. According to some, if you are not one of those 350 kids you are a loser, suck, wasted your life, etc.

Nope. But parents wasted 10's of thousands, maybe 100's of thousands by the time it's realized. Clubs and leagues committing fraud to stay relevant.

He's a nightmare. Search Gus Donolo in this forum and don't say you weren't warned.

Search results don’t include any specific info other than “not showing up,” which seems to be focused on a time before he left a club (maybe FCV), and training kids privately as a side gig, which I couldn’t care less about. He is a terrible example for young girls, he will literally trash the players on the field to the girls on the bench and then rage sub them when they make a mistake. He won't talk to them about what they did wrong and eventually they'll just lose all of their confidence.

This is crazy, this sounds like my DD old coach to a T and we are half way across the country. Best decision was to finally leave. Only wish we'd have done it sooner.

Bingo! Too many parents changing the narrative when their kid didn’t make d1. She only wants a strong academic d3 school. Play in a less competitive league than ECNL & GA. You will save time & money & will play d3. D3 rosters have very little ECNL & GA players. Someone on here wants facts - there is your fact. Nothing wrong with that but don’t make the excuse if you played ECNL / GA & only made d3 that it was about education. Don’t change the narrative.
