Hamilton College

By this standard, no highly selective college offers an open curriculum.

Lol. Bowdoin has very little name recognition. Amherst and Williams perhaps slightly more. Your connection to Bowdoin shows.

I’ve never heard of Hamilton and I spent seven years in Cambridge, Boston. And it’s $91,500. Make sure it’s worth that to you

It seems likely that Hamilton hasn't heard of you either.

Hamilton was DC’s ED2 thought if they hadn’t gotten into Swarthmore this week - know this is common for Hamilton, back up for top SLACs.

I thought it was interesting that Obama chose to speak there back in April. I have no idea why he chose Hamilton. Maybe someone raised this on the prior 15 pages of this thread.

My view is if Hamiton is good enough for Obama, it’s good enough.

I respect Swarthmore, but personally would choose Hamilton over Swarthmore, partly for Hamilton's broader curriculum in fields of interest to me, partly for its athletic facilities and partly for its less conventional location.

Six former heads-of-state have spoken at Hamilton: Obama, Cameron, Clinton, Carter, Thatcher and De Klerk.

Just shows how narrow your world view is.

That’s says more about you than Hamilton. Not a good look for you.

I could name them if I felt like it.

Agree with this. I was impressed with their advising which seems strong. Liked that each kid gets more than one advisor. Seems like a supportive place. Did not like what we heard about the divide on campus, which was heard firsthand from current students who are not that happy there. The area seemed...meh.

My kid liked other places better but it was on the list. Nothing super special about it.

The only "divide" on campus is that of the two different architectural styles which is the result of the merger with Kirkland.

this person keeps saying this which is so weird because it's the opposite of what we heard from current students who go there. why are you so invested in claiming otherwise?

Students who do not appreciate and explore Hamilton's spatial variety and the social subtleties associated with this variety will miss a connection to Hamilton's decidedly imaginative history. In any case, "divide" is a description I've heard only from outsiders, not from current students. — DP

I am alum. I had a great experience there and made many wonderful life long friends. Several of my classmates married people they met there.

College is so expensive these days. I am not sure I would do it unless there was generous financial aid, but that's my opinion.

I am laughing that Hamilton has now reached DCUM hate level along with Middlebury.
