Sadly I'm sure that there are still Democrats who would vote for such a person. I wish this country could get back to voting for the person rather than being so hyper partisan.

Louise Lucas and Mamie Locke have reaffirmed their support for Jay Jones - after the horrible text message came to light.

There are always decisions to be made about how voters feel about a candidate's character as well as their positions.

A lot of us lean Democratic and were prepared to support Jones for his positions, but the recent revelations demonstrate a real lack of character and basic decency.

The fact that Lucas and Locke - who have always stood for soaking NoVa to benefit other parts of the state - add fuel to the fire.

If I weren't prepared to support Spanberger, I would have more reservations about voting for Miyares at this point, but with Spanberger still likely assured of victory it's easier to accept the unfortunate reality that Jones has no business serving as AG. I don't like a lot of Miyares' political positions, but he's not as reckless and obviously unsuited for public office as Jones has been revealed to be.

If this is your position than you need to accept it’s going to be another four years of rolling over to Trump while Miyares harasses liberal organizations, colleges, and school districts with sham investigations that go nowhere. Don’t pretend. The AG decides what Virginia fights, and so far to date, the states that fight Trump win. Miyares is on the side of Trump and won’t defend Virginia.

Exactly.

Miyares would continue to enable all of Trump’s insanity.

He won’t protect Virginians.

I'll take my chances with Miyares. It is clear that Jones does not intend to protect Virginians. Several examples here on this thread.

How has Miyares defended Virginians? Is it the expensive politically motivated investigations that went no where? The refusal to defend freedom of speech at Virginia universities? The refusal to stand up to illegal Trump Administration actions to withhold money we were entitled to, when other states stood up and won?

No, it’s not any of those. Miyares has done a pretty good job representing a small segment of weird white Christian men with trans obsession, but I can’t think of any other Virginian that has benefited from his leadership. His malfeasance has cost us a fortune.

Please be specific. If you mean going after LCPS and FCPS, I fully support that.

MAGA supports MAGA. Shocker.

The fact that Democrats decided Jay Jones was the best they had and ran him out there without doing some basic digging into his background is not my problem. Y’all just can’t get out of your own way, and then want to berate people for not being willing to hold their nose and vote for their sh!tty candidate. How about run better candidates? You should have had someone as a complement to Spanberger, who I am actually thrilled to be able to vote for. But no, you went with Jay Jones 🙄

Blame yourself sweetie. We’ll have four more years of budget hell and trans panic because you can’t be pragmatic.

I mean you can say that, honey but I don’t blame myself for anything. I was provided 2 choices and 1 of them is completely unacceptable. So it is what it is. Put up better candidates. I won’t be brow-beaten into voting for someone like Jay Jones.

Then don’t. Accept that you are choosing MAGA. You are MAGA. And I’ll bet you probably like it.

100%

You are ok with MAGA. Own it.

I maybe could have overlooked the speeding ticket, although from someone wanting to be the Chief LEO of the state it’s a terrible look, but add the texts on top of it and I see someone unfit to be AG. And you have no argument to the contrary, other than “be pragmatic”. I’m tired of you trying to shove terrible candidates down my throat (see, Biden, then Harris) and then telling me if I don’t vote for said terrible candidate I’m MAGA. And you wonder why the Democratic Party is so unpopular right now.

The Democrats are so focused on winning battles that they are losing the war. This is a clear situation to cut loses and play for tomorrow. But for some reason people are going to bat for him.

Because he’s still way better than the alternative.

Put on your big girl panties and deal with this non-ideal situation like an adult.

Biden and Harris weren’t “terrible”.

If it sounds like a duck…

Sure, this is perfectly normal thinking.

Yes, it’s very common in America. Millions of people voted for a felon who molested trafficked children because he promised to lower the cost of eggs. And they go to church every Sunday and claim to know Jesus.

+1

GTFO about alleged texts and speeding ticket.

Jones wrote. “Gilbert gets two bullets to the head.”
“Jay,” Coyner responded. “Please stop.”
Jones later called Coyner to continue their conversation, where he invoked the death of Gilbert’s children and said it might cause the then-speaker to change his political views.

That’s a call for murder. Period

No excuse for that for someone running for AG

Either you are ok with MAGA or you aren’t. Sounds like you are. Don’t be mad when people call you out for your own choice.

If you can’t acknowledge that Joe Biden was an objectively terrible candidate in 2024 you are no better than the MAGA bots pledging allegiance to their leader no matter what.

He was infinitely better than the other option.

I cannot believe anyone who votes Dem would vote for Miyares. I cannot believe anyone who abhors Trump would vote for Miyares. A vote for Miyares is a vote to keep MAGA influence in VA politics. A vote for Miyares is a vote to frustrate a Spanberger administration. No matter what, I will be voting for Jones and against Miyares. It’s very easy to do and I will have no regrets.

You want that for an AG????

Against fascist MAGA? I’m not troubled.

One of the election experts I follow suggested that he should say if he wins that he’ll resign and allow Spanberger to appoint an AG.

You can’t be serious? Biden was going senile and Harris had no clue about what she would do differently. If this is the best Democrats can do we are all in trouble .
