My kid didn’t go to South Bend for the location. He went for the education and overall campus experience. Some might prefer the more laid back and small campus of HC, but you can’t deny the ND has it over HC with campus life, academics, and athletics. There is no comparison.

Someone compared the two cities. Thank you for agreeing that Worcester is far superior. And for the poster who laments driving an hour to get to Boston, the only “major city,” it is obvious you are not from the New England. By New England standards, Worcester is a major city — the second largest in all of New England.

The issue isn’t the size of Worcester. Providence, Portland, Portsmouth, Stamford, and West Hartford are all way nicer. Worcester isn’t worth the crap in a public toilet

Holy Cross is a top25 LAC, it is not on the level of Notre Dame but no doubt the 3rd best Catholic school in the country. IMO, its alumni success is off the charts, pick any city and there are successful HC grads.

Wrong-Worcester is not a dump and most of the Holy Cross campus is near suburb Auburn. In non rush hour period you can easily get into Boston in 50 minutes to an hour. Try relying on the mass transit system from BC to Fanuill. HC is a strong school.

Worcester is a dump. HC is a very good school and is sometimes overlooked because its level of selectivity is not as impressive as its academics. Unfortunately, this thread has gone overboard, trying to turn a dumpy town into something more and a very good school into a great school.

Their two losses were against top 5 teams by a total of 4 points at the beginning of the season with a brand new defensive coordinator and a freshman quarterback. Since then they have improved immensely and will be in the playoffs if they win out, which is highly likely. Go Irish.

A national stage HC has produced US Senators from NH, recently Pennsylvania, and the current Sen from Vermont. Finally David Walsh an HC grad from the 1890s was the first Irish Catholic to be elected Governor and US Senator from Massachusetts in the 1910s- a large accomplishment beating the Protestant/ Boston Brahmin elite. And of course Supreme Court Judge Clarence Thomas is HC Grad believe the only Catholic undergrad to hold that position. Georgetown and ND law school grads have served on the bench but not undergrads- HC holds that distinction.

My god, the idea that Clarence Thomas is a bragging point to anyone is truly terrifying.
