The turn that we are taking in country is truly appalling - our inability to listen, and talk rather than shout each other down just makes me sick.

Where is civil debate and discourse?

Not a Trump supporter at all, think he is truly the worst thing to happen to US politics.

Civil discourse is fine. Fox spews outright lies. Lies from the white house podium. Lies in congressional hearings. Compromise is a dirty word. If little kids get shot and boom cares then all these lifers can get shot and we won't care.

It's also not just speech. These people whip their moronic followers up into a frenzy to manufacture consent for all the evil this administration is doing. THEY are violent. People think just because they dont personally carry out the deed, they are blameless but they aren’t. The leaders on the right have wrought this violence on themselves. And I will not cry for a nazi.

What makes Charlie a nazi?

“Look what you made me do” is the excuse of an abusive partner.

That’s not what they said. You are dumb.

But while I don't like that some leftists/liberals are cheering this on, just know that conservatives would not only cheer this on if the situation were reversed, but they wouldn't police and scold their group for having the wrong reaction either.

Who are these liberals cheering them on? Name names and link it. So far, I have seen ZERO evidence of this and yet it has been posted on this thread several times.

Yeah, ok. Tell that to people making fun of Paul Pelosi.

In this country, we don’t shoot people for saying things we don’t like.

We apparently do. This IS us.

I don’t like it and vote accordingly. But THIS IS US.

Exactly. So tired of people saying this isn’t who we are. It’s exactly who we are.

Why? Those 2A public figures think everyone should have the right to carry a gun.

Tell that to the NRA convention.

IKR? Hypocrites.

No, we don't need that. Just put some more good guys with guns.

Good point.

Wait...how do we screen for good guys?

Voter registration lists. R = good

Children are ok targets but not political crazies who breed fear and anger?

Please. Anyone involved in this political lunacy should experience the same fear as a parent who’s waiting to hear if their kid survived a shooting.

Yes.

They didn’t give one s*it about the democrats that were assassinated in Minnesota and offer nothing but useless thoughts and prayers for children murdered, but we are supposed to care that a pro gun far right extremist was shot?

They threaten judges and threaten politicians that want to tell the truth?

We shouldn’t have any political violence, but my god, pardon the normal people for not feeling generous with our sympathy after all he has said and done.

+1. I’m out of things to give. How about a nice egg in these trying times? Thoughts and prayers until the Rs decide that they’re going to actually do something about this.

I have yet to see anything other than outrage at political violence and prayers for Kirk, on Blueskye/the left. I am curious as that what posts you are seeing that are causing problems for you.

Chris Kluwe reposted the “me sowing/me reaping” meme. Also lots of people posting that clip where he says “unfortunately we are going to have some gun deaths.”

As I said in my follow up, tasteless but not justifying it and most posts are rightly condemning.

I am not seeing the problem with posting Kirk's own quotes.

Because all gun violence should be condemned. Mentioning that quote the context of a convo or an article about him would be fine but simply posting that (and only that) moments after he’s been shot is different and if you can’t see that I don’t know what to tell you.

It’s the type of reaction Trump would have if someone he was opposed to was shot, tbh. Personally, I don’t want to be anything like Trump but maybe you don’t mind it.

Trump is our Supreme Leader. Leaders set the tone for their people. Maybe leaders should not be so cruel and unethical f they want the populace to be peaceful.

You said it yourself. Trump would act this way so why wouldn’t the people follow his lead? You think being POTUS is some kind of joke?

What's the big deal? The shooter was just exercising his 2A rights.

I expect to see not one iota more outrage/ attention from the right over this than over the two Minnesota lawmakers who were murdered. Unless of course they're.... hypocrites.

People should be able to have verbal discussions and differences in opinion without the fear of being shot. Something is terribly wrong in this country and it's not just the guns. It's the mindset and a total disregard for human life. Because of these recent events, I've decided to seek certification to conceal carry for myself and every other member of my family this year, plus get private lessons.

The president has no empathy. It trickles down.

He mocked a reporter with a disability, never expressed sympathy for Covid victims, and threw paper towels at people who’d lost homes and were devastated. He complained about having to go to National Airport to meet with the victims’ families after an accident caused by the US.

You can’t say it doesn’t matter.

Let’s remember that the right wingers who stormed the Capitol and murdered law enforcement were given blanket pardons. But we’re supposed to be condemning today’s violence. Can’t have it both ways MAGA.

You think a concealed carry permit would have helped Charlie Kirk?

I have yet to see anyone on the left "celebrating"

Other than this thread you mean

no one is celebrating. Just throwing the expected tots and pears back at ya. Isn't that what y'all do after a shooting?
