Do you or partner use edibles?

Anonymous
No we don't do any drugs period. We also don't drink at all. All of these substances are poison to your body.

Anonymous wrote:Like... edible underwear? Oh, you mean cannabis.

No. We don't use cannabis because it's not regulated, can lead to psychosis, and is a scheduled drug that could cost us our jobs.

Sorry you can't enjoy your partner while sober, I guess?

So you never drink alcohol? And you also don't drink caffeine, right?

Anonymous wrote:Yes and yes. It’s legal and regulated in my state. Only on weekends. I have no idea why it would affect our relationship.

It’s a drug. I own it. So is alcohol. I do not consider myself a “druggie” but if you consider me one, idgaf.

It’s relaxing and fun and I don’t really see why some of you are so cranky about it. Maybe you need an edible.

+1000

Only done it three times, my husband doesn't because of his security clearance. I rarely drink and have never smoked a cigarette.

Just be out and proud! You're getting high. Whether you have a gigantic bong on the coffee table or not.

Why do you care what we call it? We are adults consuming a perfectly legal substance just like your Chardonnay. Do you also lecture whose who refer to their wine glasses as mommy’s cup? I don’t actually care that they do. I drink wine too.

If edibles are not for you, just don’t eat any. The rest of us are doing just fine.

Why are you afraid to say you are getting high and taking drugs, though? I don't "care" like I care about democracy or something. I find it amusing that people like you hope to hide your drug habits in euphemisms to sanitize it.

Welp, no one cares what you think.

Type A, highly successful lawyer, competitive athlete, involved mom, I have tons of friends and a great marriage. I've tried gummies a few times on a Saturday, it felt like having a few drinks without feeling bloated and I slept like a rock. I have no idea if/when I'll do it again, I don't think about it much. Yeah, I used to have a med card from "my doctor" too. You're playing yourself. No responsible clinician is telling patients to get high to get sleep, for the same reason no responsible clinician would tell you to just pop a benzo or drink a few glasses of wine to get sleep. That's irresponsible af.

That some NP with a few CEUs in cannabis "education" did your 5-minute zoom interview and stamped your paperwork doesn't mean you have reputable medicine on your side of this non-argument. Long-term cannabis use is dangerous, short-term cannabis use can be dangerous (especially depending on what you use), and you probably won't realize you have a problem until you have a "damn, I can't quit"-level problem.

Good luck.

I don’t need a medical marijuana card—it’s fully legal here and I walked into a store and selected what I wanted. I don’t think taking half a gummy once a week is going to drive me to reefer madness, but thanks for your concern. And get your smelling salts—my doc (an MD not an NP) also gave me a prescription for Xanax. He knows I use them sparingly so isn’t concerned.

Cool. I'm sure the addictive substances won't be addictive for you because your doctor wrote their name on a slip of paper. Unlike all those other people who are drug addicts. But not you. Could never be you.

A lot of people don’t have addictive personalities. I’m sorry that you’ve been so hurt in your life by addiction that you spend your free time attacking people on the internet.

Says you, being mock-kind, like you have the high ground? Oh, dear...

As opposed to you, being a straight-up k8nt.

The pp didn't call names, you accuse them of 'attacking' and then you call them names? Make it make sense, stoney!

Fine, I withdraw "attacking" and put forth "sanctimoniously lecturing." Satisfied? Either way everything about their interactions here are thoroughly unpleasant. Most of us were simply answering the question in the OP. We didn't sign up for an impromptu, janky Ted talk on PPs thoughts on drugs.

No, you don’t have to agree with me, but don’t come on here telling me you know more than my doctor. You know zilch about me.

Or you'll what? Have a meltdown about it?

You're probably not honest with your doctor about your substance use, and the fallout from it is obvious to anyone who can read your drivel.

Or you’ll get people being hostile to you. I know you’re just trolling now, so I don’t really care, but in case you really are in recovery, show your posts to your sponsor and ask him or her if you think these are indicative of being in a healthy mental place. You might need more support than you’re currently getting. Peace to you and have a good weekend.

DP. Calling out a condescending jerk is part of a healthy recovery. Sorry you started something you couldn't finish, but this is so stupid. Nobody needs to talk to their sponsor about you, because nobody but you is at risk of using drugs right now. Go work on cleaning your own side of the street.

It's perfectly healthy to call out a jerk. Boundaries don't mean "love and light" for all circumstances, and being in recovery isn't the same as being a doormat. People in recovery get to have opinions you don't like, and don't need the condescending wishes of "peace" from non-peaceful people who've been antagonizing them for multiple posts.

People who can't enjoy their partners without drugs telling people pointing out that stupidity to call their sponsors is... a lot, actually.

No one said this.

I kind of feel bad for her. Clearly she is struggling. I do hope she gets help.

I'm good, love. I don't use drugs, I'm not angry, and I'm kinda amused by your mock concern. Enjoy your buzz.

So go be happy. Why do you feel the need to tell me I’m wrong?

Why are you so outraged by a stranger's mere suggestion that you might be? Your reactivity is about you.

People post stupid stuff all the time, and then get irate when people point out it's stupid. Why, I cannot say. Maybe you can? Regardless, needing to do drugs to experience intimacy is a problem for most people who aren't addicts or people with substance use issues. If hearing that is upsetting to you, maybe ask yourself why?

Again. Why are you here telling me I’m wrong?

I think your time would be better spent dealing with your own addiction issues.

I get to decide how to spend my time, don't I? I'm amused by how hard you're willing to go to avoid looking at your own behavior. I'm sure you'll say I'm angry, or some other projection or concern-trolling, but I'm honestly just interested in how many times you'll keep trying to flip it before realizing you have an issue with your behavior.

Which, btw, is some peak addict shit.

Oh my. Peak addict shit? Is that AA talking? Still working the straps, are you? Keep doing the good work. It’s worth it. You deserve to be happy.

You must be high...

How is your sobriety these days? How many chips do you have?

Do you think this makes your whole 'I can manage my high' argument seem reasonable? You seem like a combative, irrational, overly-emotional loose cannon with a persecution complex. The people who need recovery mock it most.

I start every day with a dab (concentrate). Makes me a better parent. I dose throughout the day either through my pen or the rig depending on availability and responsibilities that day. Edibles make me too high. Straight weed makes me too high also, but it's what my neighbors/friends do so I'll smoke a joint with them.

I am in my 30s, I've been doing it since I was 18, with a medical card. No need for a med card now though. Nobody notices I do it, my brain feels normal on it. I have ADHD and cPTSD.

There is so, so much rationalization here. No, drugs do not make you a better parent, being high constantly is not normal for your brain, and people definitely notice even if they don’t comment on it. What if your kid broke an arm or had an asthma attack and needed to go to the hospital? You can’t drive them high. What about when they have friends over? I hope you disclose to other parents that you are dosing throughout the day to maintain your high. Not to mention normalizing this for your kids is such a bad idea.

I'm the pp who dabs daily. I've been doing it 10 years, including when I was pregnant and had HG. Nobody can ever tell when I am high. My own parents thought I quit 5 years ago, I told them that I still use it and they could not tell. I work with kids, don't you think if parents/teachers noticed they would have reported me by now, after 10 years!? You do not know enough about weed to know that plenty of people are on it and it does not look how you think.

Every single addict/alcoholic thinks the same way.

Why do you need anyones approval to be a drug addict? Go head hurt your brain and body, we don't really care. You don't need out permission to hard yourself.
