I woke up craving Cream of Wheat only to discover that it’s $8 a box at my local grocery stores.

I grew up poor and it was a frequent breakfast in winter because it was so affordable. I fed it to my own kids when we were paycheck to paycheck after I divorced and they never even realized it was because money was tight. They saw it as a treat because they got to customize their bowl with whatever odds and ends were available.
