DH and I have different political views, but the basic values are the same.

I’m a democrat who is also critical of my own party. DH is an independent, which honestly annoys me a little, because I think independents don’t sufficiently acknowledge the current limitations of the system we need to work with. But our basic values align.

But we do fight about politics a bit. He’s more of an extremist and idealist. I’m more pragmatic and logical.

But if he voted for Trump, I’d have serious thoughts about divorcing. Because it tells me something about his values which completely goes against mine.
