Yeah except FCPS PSAT averages were largely unchanged across the county except at TJ. Wierd that the brain drain only happened at one school specifically on the first year of a new admissions system that removed standardized testing. NMSF numbers at most schools were largely unchanged. https://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/25/1223230.page |
TJ dropped a lot. The rest of FCPS combined increased. TJ was carrying the county and when they kneecapped Tj, they kneecapped the county.
Does anyone remember the stories about how expensive housing is here? Do we think that's because everyone is moving out. The number of students has increased year over year. |
What’s the breakdown by HS? |
Here is it broken down by high school. https://www.fcps.edu/news/264-fcps-students-named-2024-national-merit-semifinalists |
And the breakdown for this year https://www.fcps.edu/news/191-fcps-students-named-2025-national-merit-semifinalists |
lol at the fine tooth comb over something so obvious. |
Did they announce the number of commended scholars per high school? |
What's funny is that they had 4 years to figure out how they were going to explain this and this is what they came up with. |
What's to explain? Everyone already knows the pandemic impacted students. |
You are going to have to back up that claim as it relates directly to FCPS class of 2025 SAT/PSAT scoring. Thanks in advance. |
If Loudoun students stopped attending because of a perceived drop in quality, or if they selected weaker students from Loudoun schools |
Theory is that schools that were open in 2020-2021 had better results than the online-only schools. |
How many TJ slots do you think are allocated to Loudon county? Only 47 Loudon county students were NMSF this year. There were 57 last year and 45 the year before. So while this wouldn't be a blip, it's cannot explain the precipitous drop even if the assumption that all the smart loudon kids decided to stayed home is correct. |
But TJ wasn't open in 2020-2021 any more than other FCPS schools was it? |
Then why don't we see these PSAT gaps elsewhere this year? |
