The number of TJ NMSF was apparently down by over half from last year (from 165 to 81), and the number of NMSFs from other schools only went up by 16 (from 99 to 115). Good luck to Reid trying to spin this as a success story.

I only see 3 for South Lakes.

This looks like a FCPS fail not just TJ. Maybe 1/2 of those 16 students from other schools might have been admitted to TJ. In general, the quality of FCPS education has gone down.

But if you look at the private school list, those don't seem to be particularly amazing either.

It has historically only been TJ that really stuck out.

I see it as a TJ fail. The other schools in fcps didn't see their number decreased, only Tj and by half.

Nah, the pandemic took a toll but things will eventually return to normal.

That's odd since TJ is doing orders of magnitude better than these other schools. You seem confused.

But the schools in stronger areas *should* have had a much larger number of kids capable of making NMSF, since the switch in TJ admissions w/ its geographic quotas. If the base school numbers didn't go up by a lot, it does suggest a county-wide problem.

The base school numbers went up slightly but the TJ numbers plummeted = big net decline for FCPS.

We told you this was coming. This school board and its predecessor have made a hash of everything.

They also had a very low cutoff score last year.

Of course it's doing better because there is still a remnant of merit left. You just seem determined to find excuse for the failure.

Maybe? but there is also a chance that those kids who might have been accepted with the old system and are now at base school would have performed better on PSAT had they had the opportunity to attend TJ.

IMO, 81 is still pretty good and surprisingly high given how noisy the admissions process is now.

Yes, the VA selection index went up by 3 pts. It was oddly low last year.
