No, they don’t. My cousin from New York who was hard-core Obama fan (she had pictures, calendars, shirts anything else you can think of as souvenirs. She even came to the first inauguration) didn't know what school the Obama girls go to until she came down to visit one time and I told her and showed the school. It is what it is. |
Are your feelings hurt that you attended and/or your child attends a PG country Sports factory? Too bad, so sad. 😞 |
Yeah, kinda sad that Sidwell boosters are left trying to manipulate Nicbe numbers to make the case that the school isn't passe. They're all just sitting around waiting for a campus construction project that will likely never happen. We toured Sidwell EIGHT YEARS AGO and admissions explained the whole project to us like our child would be moving into a new space the following year. He's now halfway through college and nothing has changed other than the Obamas are gone and even more deferred maintenance. It's good that they've wrapped plastic around the baseball field fence. Saves everyone on Wisconsin Avenue from having to look at the mess. |
The OP’s question aside, you and I both know that Dematha is not an academically rigorous school. That’s not racist, that’s reality. There are predominantly Black schools that are academically rigorous. Dematha isn’t one of them. |
Using PG county as a supposed dig is racist. You’re making Sidwell look really bad, and I’m pretty sure the obamas would be disgusted with being used to advance your little narrative. |
The question is which school is most famous, so you and the Sidwell boosters are off topic and yes lots of the comments about Dematha have been racist. You have to give credit where credit is due and this erasure of a school’s accolades because it’s located in a black county and services more minority and lower income families is racist. We can talk about Sidwell on one of the which school has the best academics posts (still wouldn’t be number one though) but on this topic Dematha is the clear winner and we shouldn’t be trying to take that away from them. |
You sound incredibly bitter that your child didn’t get into Sidwell. There’s absolutely nothing you can say that will convince me otherwise. Now, wipe the spittle off your computer screen and go rest your fingers that you’ve been pounding on your keyboard. No one is interested in reading your multiple paragraph screeds about a school your child had no chance of being admitted to. |

It sounds like PG County residents are sensitive about living in PG County. Who knew? |
It sounds like Sidwell boosters are sensitive about their overrated school. Who knew? |
You’ll be the same one sending your kid to UMD in PG county in a few years, if they can even get in, calling it the new Ivy after they get rejected from an actual Ivy, which you’ll say is because they didn’t have a hook. Then you’ll say they should’ve gone to public school or a “sports factory” like Dematha so they could increase their chance of being an athletic recruit. Somehow you’ll manage to walk the line between snobbery and victimhood without ever seeing the contradiction. Best of luck to you. |
Sensitive? Not even a little. Sidwell students and parents are very accustomed to the hate we receive about the school from envious people. I find these comments amusing, yet highly predictable. 🥱 |
I have nothing against UMD. It’s is a fine school for those students that want that experience. That said, go to IG and count the number of Sidwell students who are attending UMD (from the past 3 years). You can count them on one hand and have fingers left over. |
Seriously. You can boost up Sidwell without ignorantly putting others down. DeMatha is a great school for athletics, arts and (believe it or not) academics. Nobody was trying to claim it was more prestigious or rigorous than Sidwell, but it is more famous. |
