And a tiny flashlight! He’s like inspector gadget.

Dollars to donuts he has a swiss army knife on his keychain.

This is actually a really good idea.

No Swiss Army knife.

It has come in handy when we were in a museum that lost power and back up lights did very little. The main reason is the red light for reading on train, or dimly lit area without bothering others with a bright direct light.

what book was he reading that fit into his pocket?

Never said he was reading a book.

OP's husband has a half-magazine he rolls the pepto pill case into. Slides right into the pocket smooth as silk.

Interesting article about Americans’ ridiculous obsession with constant “hydration.”

Tell me you don’t have kids without telling me you don’t have kids, lol. Your days of carrying absolutely nothing with you while out and about are over the moment you have children.

Who gives an actual #$%@ OP? MYOB. If you want to walk around all day without a backpack, go for it and let other people do their thing. What difference does it actually make to you? You're like these people who absolutely defends their decisions because they just HAVE to be right. No one cares about your Swiss army knife, pepto bismol, mini light, folded tote carrying husband and dehydrated children.

Pepto DH belongs in the DCUM hall of fame along with Burger King lady and Lightly Fried Tuna lady.

Good for you. I don’t think you are wrong for carrying a backpack. I don’t care how you you travel. I just don’t see the point of it. This is a discussion board. Why does everyone harp on the pepto part? If I had just said medicine would it be a big deal. My husband has an issue with some food ingredients, so he should just ignore it? He doesn’t carry a Swiss Army knife. You literally can not tell he has anything in his pockets. No one has been dehydrated.

On the dehydration part. For those that carry a water bottle you still need to refill your water bottle. So you get a whopping 16-32 oz of water more than me before your first stop for water? Even assuming I have not stopped at all for water, dehydrating from that difference in intake.

Uh, I think you do care. You wouldn't have made this post and keep coming back.to it for 2 weeks, feeding it up to 15 pages if you didn't care. If you truly didn't care, you would say to yourself on your trip "huh, look at that, why does everyone else traveling here have a backpack?" and maybe have a 2 minute discussion with your husband. You wouldn't come back home, remembering all this, make a post, get every single response telling you the multiple obvious reasons people carry backpacks, and keep responding, if you didn't care.

But thank f$ck no one can see anything in his pockets. That would just be horrific and embarrassing amirite?

Hi OP, for my family’s upcoming European trip, we are each going to carry a lightweight backpack AND a belt bag! Can you even imagine?

My DDs and I have food allergies, so I need a bag for carrying EpiPens and Zyrtec plus a snack item for my younger DD, since her allergies are difficult to manage in a restaurant or fast-food location. If we are out somewhere and she’s hungry, I can’t always just trust that I’ll be able to find her something safe to eat and would rather just be prepared. Plus a wallet, lip balm, and keys for myself. I have a small backpack for these items when I’m out and about with my kids.

LOL. We don't need backpacks! These are flat and will fit nicely in your BRA. Pepto-bra, anyone?

So you buy a bottle of water and drink it all in one go? Or do you have an extra pocket for that?

Unless it’s super hot, 16-32 oz lasts me a good part of the day, especially since we’d be stopping somewhere for lunch. I’d rather drink a bit as I go than wait until I’m extremely thirst to stop in a store/cafe and chug it down. But you do you, just strange how you can’t imagine folks doing things differently than you. Shrug.
