If she signs with a French brand that would be another huge FU to the BRF. The French know this and would find it entertaining.

Why would the BRF care about that? They won, Meghan lost. Life goes on for them while Harry & Meghan flounder and try to figure out a plan that actually works.

I so just happen to be in London for work this week and yesterday went to the Trooping of colors. It wasn't planned but decided to see it as I was here and it would be different from the usual museums I've seen a million times already. To my surprise, I found the Trooping delightful and wonderful. Actually saw the royals in real life! Which is a bit weird after seeing so many photos of them. The flyover was fabulous. The mall was mobbed and everyone was having a great time.

It occurred to me that Harry and Meghan had enormous protection within the BRF. William and Kate, as Charles and Camilla and the other royals have their public roles but also a very private life with close and loyal friends. But somehow Meghan couldn't make it work. I suppose she wanted to be her own great star, but the end result is a pair of increasingly embarrassing has been social climbing that seems headed for a crash. It's clear A list Hollywood doesn't think much of them, the industry doesn't think much of them.

They thought they were the stars and could break out on their own and be bigger and better. It's like when a member of a band leaves and tries to make a solo career. Sometimes it works, Harry Styles or Justin Timberlake, and sometimes it doesn't, JC Chasez or Nick Carter. Also I think they were really done in by Covid. The timing couldn't have been worse for them to strike out alone and a few years have passed and their brief flash in the pan seems to be over. But the Royal family marches on while Harry & Meghan are increasingly irrelevant and alone.

Johnny Depp got $20M for a three-year contract. WME will get around 10% for its cut. The feds and CA will take about 45% in taxes. The leaves less than $4M/year for three years IF she’s able to secure a deal equal to what Depp made. See previous posts on expenses. They undoubtedly burn through more than $4M/year.

Perhaps they will have to adjust their lifestyle so they can live within their means.

The only people who think they are financially secure for life are those who don't have two nickels to rub together and don't understand how expensive their lifestyle is. The desperation of these two to find new profitable ventures makes it apparent how insecure they believe their financial situation is. They need hundreds of millions to be able to rest easy and they are nowhere close to that. They are barely making ends meet year to year as it is.

This. Nanny again, who posted previously re: security costs. They appear to spend like my current and former employers who are worth north of 500 million dollars. The security and staffing costs alone will bankrupt them. I also believe they run their private plane costs through their (scam) charity based in Delaware, so I didn’t add that in the calculations. I really think Harry would be happy living like a normal person, but Meghan just can’t do it. She needs to prove to the world she is special.

Is there any way they’re able to write off the costs of security? Maybe only when they travel for work? I wonder if they can write off people guarding their house somehow….
Anonymous
They would save so much money if they just moved into a penthouse. Probably only need 1-2 security a day, but that house is about their image.

Even when someone is truly suffering from a severe loss or illness, people want to hear about courage and determination in the face of hardship. Certainly not whining from a privileged, attractive, healthy couple who had a royal wedding and now living in a 14 million dollar home with 2 beautiful children. Count your blessings!

Yes. Noone begrudged them leaving the BRF and striking out on their own. The problem was the obvious greed and what they chose to monetize.

There was an Oprah interview, a docuseries, and a book, both started years ago and happened to come out at the same time. That is it. The constant whining you hear is only the constant whining of idiots constantly whining, creating some false impression that the Sussexes are constantly whining. Thet aren't.

The point is that’s all they had to monetize. Nothing left since there is little interest and certainly not much in the way of talent remaining.

He grew up royal, she likes to socialize with billionaires like Oprah Winfrey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Gorge Clooney, Tyler Perry and Serena Williams. How are they suppose to live within their mega millionaire means?

That's why rich people keep non profits and other ways to write off expenses.

They would save even more if they moved somewhere more remote, away from Hollywood.

I'm sure even her mom's wardrobe and grooming expense shot up since she became lone family member on both side with whom they have relations with and need to parade around.

They are toxic. Why would Dior give someone who is not aspirational a boatload of money? It would harm their brand. The gravy train is over. Their next gig will be a reality TV show on Bravo.

They hired Johnny Depp.

Depp has a long tenure with Dior. And Depp is a bonafide A-list movie star.
.

Excuse you! Meghan was the star of smash hit Suits! Kate and Baldemort were totes obsessed with her story arc and Dior knows that every woman in Canada bought out her items from Reitmans! Johnny Depp only made movies and was cute for a hot minute and Harry’s hair is totally there, if you think he has a tonsure going on get your eyes checked! If you think anything bad about them it’s because you’re a royalist and also respect the Duchess!

…I think I hit most of the talking points. I eagerly await the new faces of…Dior. I’m sure the September issues of all still in print fashion mags will be ever so slightly delayed in order to replace all of the 20something models with the most beautiful and compassionate woman currently alive. Ari Emmanuel totally thanks HIS lucky stars for the glory of getting to rep Meghan (and Harry). It’s all happening!

Anonymous wrote:Their security costs are for sure over 2 million a year. I’m a nanny for a major celebrity and I’m sure they have 8 security per day, working 12hr shifts.

The house security is $50/hr, security that goes out with the client is $100/hr. Most families have 2 house security and 2 security for the principal (one for parents, one for the kids). So that’s 8 people per day, $50 x 5 people x 12hrs and $100 x 3 people x 12hrs because night shift only needs me security. That is at a minimum, $6600 per day x 365 days = over $2.4 million per year. They can’t run that cost through their (scam) charity, so that’s not sustainable.

Add in nanny salaries ($100k) x 2 because I’m sure they have rota childcare, 2-3 housekeepers ($150-200k per year), estate manager ($100-150k), personal assistant ($75k), plus all the gardeners and maintenance staff.

Total over 3 million a year.

These numbers are insane.

Nanny again - Ive worked for families who usually have 8-10 security daily (4-5 people, per 12hr shift). My numbers are on the low end, because I’ve seen junior house security for $50/hr, more experienced house security is $80. The security for the principal/kids can go from $100-120/hr. There’s no way they have less than 8 people per day, because daytime you need one for the gate, one who never leaves the control room cameras, two for the principals when they go out. Evening, they need one for the principal and 3 for the house.

The family I work for has 5 security per shift (10 per day) because when we go out, there’s always 3 cars. First car is the lead, with one security. Second car is the principal with one security driving. Third car is the chase, with one security driving. Fourth and fifth security stays at the house. The fifth security is for the kids, because when we go out alone, we don’t need a lead and chase, that’s only with the parents. For sure, Meghan and Harry have 8 total per day, as they have a big property so mostly security is for the house. I don’t think they have a lead and a chase in Montecito, maybe when they go to LA.

Anyway, all that is to say their lifestyle is very expensive and with staff alone, they’re paying at least 3 million a year. I also forgot to mention a chef in my initial calculations!

Pleeeeease do an AMA here

+1. So interesting!

Harry, like Andrew, knows he can always fall back on his family. He'll never be destitute or on his own. Meghan is in a much more precarious situation. She needs them to earn money now, in both their names, for her to have any long term financial security. The urgency has to be all on her side. Harry is set for life because even if the marriage blows up he has something to fall back on. They are very different in that regard which seems evident if they are having creative difference which led to the breakdown of the Spotify deal. They aren't motivated by the same things.

Fat chance. I really think a reality show is in their future. People would watch that, as shown by their Netflix doc viewship.
