I can’t imagine anyone supporting Manchin for anything. He has no ability to lead on anything. Being too chicken shit to choose a side is not a virtue. |
Why shouldn’t we want better than the grotesque parties we have now? We need a serious realignment, and at least 3 strong parties to keep things balanced. |
No, we do not need a serious realignment. We need two serious parties who both want one thing: to govern for the benefit of us all. Right now women have functionally been stripped of their citizenship in forced birther states. That will go nationwide if the GOP gets back into power, and no moronic third party voting will ReAlIgN anything. It’ll just mean that more women end up carrying children they don’t want. You’re a non-serious clown who can’t take in new facts, obviously, but for anyone else, look up the Turnaway study regarding abortion. Right now the earth is beginning to burn, with major heat waves oppressing millions. Species are dying for want of suitable habitat. Desertification is going to be a big problem in some areas, insufficient food will become more common if we allow this to go on. Climate refugees will become a serious problem. Voting for a third party loser is going to mean an acceleration of this process. Republicans will get back in office and nothing will be done. I know this is the internet and you’re either very not bright/legit think you’d be fixing a problem or you’re a paid GOP shill who just wants to win, but the only option to realign anything is to end the GOP through such a massive thrashing that they have to revisit their terrible policies. No Labels is no progress. |
Funny how we need a third party for President but nothing else. If you so want third party, start local and grow, don’t start with the President. |
Trump won’t even be the nominee. |
The money and power around DC has no desire for a political realignment and certainly no desire for a viable 3rd party. Self preservation is the strongest of human instincts. You will be shouted down for such thoughts in a DC metro political thread. It is what it is. |
True but oh how the R and D parties would quickly transform for the better if only 80% of voting Americans voted for their questionable at best candidates instead of the over 98% of Americans voters that gave their stamp of approval to the R and D candidates in 2020. Throw a Ross Perot into the mix and enjoy the cleansing effect. |
I’ve lived here long enough to know this. Its always party before the people. Look and sound busy, but don’t really change much. |
Agree with this. I am staying home if my choices are Biden vs Trump. |
Are you the same poster posting every other comment? Or are there multiple people trying to alienate independent voters by calling us secret Republicans? |
There are several of us. But be fair, we aren’t just calling you secret Republicans; at 23:24 I made it plain that you might just be unintelligent. I notice that you, totally intelligent not at all secret Republican, didn’t bother to engage with my post from then. You guys never know engage with any substantive issues, just “ooh parties protect themselves! DC! Bubble!” I live nowhere near DC and haven’t taken a dime from any political party. Unlike you. |
What? Totally bizarre response. I'm an independent voter in a MD suburbs. I don't take any money from political parties. So odd.
If you are the 23:24 poster, what are people supposed to comment about? Abortion? Climate change? Those topics have their own threads for specific dedicated discussion. This thread is about dissatisfaction with the lack of political choices and whether the No Labels party can shake up entrenched partisanship |
It's not like there have not been 3rd party candidates before. Look it up and see what happens Einstein. Posters on here are just stating the obvious about what is accomplished by third party candidates. They function as spoiler. Sorry if that interferes with your fantasy world that 3rd party candidates could win. |
Np- Sugar, how is a republican dark money super pac gonna “shake up” the political status quo? Grow up. |
Rather than a third party, which has zero chance of winning under our current system, we should be advocating for ranked choice voting and publicly funded campaigns. Much more effective. |
