But the post before was asking for explanations. |
Trump effed over all the women of this country last go round and no one is willing to see what pile of crap he would serve up if he ever got in office again. Just hell no. Sorry. |
The GOP used to be the party of freedom, rights and responsibility, law and order, and peace through strength abroad.
They are certainly no longer for freedom, trampling on the rights of women and LGTBQ, using activist courts to create law and subjugate rights, turning a back on responsibility, allowing overt liars and cheats serve elected office without accountability and abdicating for the most part the role of the US in protecting democratic countries abroad, instead opting for the like of Orban and Putin. The 2024 presidential election is basically a question of democracy versus authoritarianism and the answer for most thinking Americans is pretty straightforward. A republic, if you can keep it. -Benjamin Franklin |
And if they stick to this message, they will win. The GOP has NO answer to this. Reagan did. Bush 41 did. W sort of did, but no longer. |
I like how this kind of turns the whole freedom message around on the Republicans. They claim to be for freedom but their actions amount to suppressing freedom for people who don’t agree with them. I think Republicans are going to try to make the trans stuff a big issue to try to sway male independent voters. I hope men don’t fall for it. That should be very far from the top of our concerns as a country. Democrats need to stop making it a big thing too. Be supportive but don’t put it front and center. It’s not a winning issue. |
Correct male independent to women independent voters and that is correct. |
Democrats are not the ones making a big thing of it. It is the GOP who talk about it all.the.time. Sure, some dems are offering legilsation that protect individual rights for those who are Trans, what is the big deal if one is more of a libertarian? Or is the Libtertarian wing of the GOP abject snowflakes? |
Most women independents are up in arms about abortion and will be voting accordingly. |
Exactly. He never held a real job before being elected the Senate! |
Ossoff and Warnock aren’t even in the same universe as Obama. |
+1000 Independent here, and I want some viable options. |
The only way the Rs win is if they succeed at fearmongering based on immigration, trans issues, and crime. The best way for Ds to anticipate that game plan and deflate such efforts is to not make these issues the top priority—particularly in a nonsensical liberal fringe way—and instead focus on the economy, freedom, healthcare, etc. Only talk about equality in a matter of fact way that makes clear everyone should be treated with dignity…and then move on. Don’t drill down to talking points that put a group on a pedestal because that risks alienating others. Talk about immigration in a way that makes clear we all want border security while also emphasizing how a path to citizenship for those already here makes communities better for everyone. Re: crime - don’t say defund the police. Blame crime on urban flight, poverty, and mental illness. Pin the urban flight on Rs running for tax haven states instead of strengthening communities. Tie it back to making the wealthy pay their fair share precisely to fund police, fire depts and schools. Remind everyone what Reagan did by decimating mental health (which admittedly needed to be blown up and reimagined). Offer solutions—including for the drug crisis. Treatment. And FFS, recognize the global threat we have at the moment and make clear we will remain the strongest country in the world. Beyond our military, we need to rein in our economy and corporations to ensure we are producing what we need in America. |
