Mary J has a million other songs she could have picked.

Maybe it was the song, but she sounded pretty bad. That drop to the end wasn't a good ideal either, or the prison jumpsuits. Not a good look for black culture! As usual liberal media is giving it praises while many are saying the opposite. Not the worst halftime, but it was up there with "tacky" which is no surprise with the NFL. There were some good commercials this year.

Are you black? Bc if you were then you see the actual comments on black Twitter are opposite of what you are claiming.

And the comments from NOT black twitter are the opposite.

And some of them are hilarious. SEXUAL ANARCHY!!!1!1!!!1!

lol that's superb.

I was taken aback by her whole look. Mary has a great voice and doesn't need to glam herself to that level. I blame JLo and her "hot at 50" look last year for setting a ridiculous bar for female performers.

I thought Dre looked so happy the entire time. He was smiling from ear to ear. Snoop looked so cool and relaxed. I would have cut out 50 cent for another Snoop song. Eminem--wish he sang some of Without Me instead of Lose Yourself, but it was fun to see him. Would be nice if smiled for once. I didn't think 50 cent looked THAT terrible. he def gained weight but he wasn't huge.

Is this a real question?

50 is from NY

It doesn’t matter. He and Em were signed by Dre. Everyone knows about East West history.

I don't believe that's common knowledge. Dcum isn't the place for rap scholars, ya know?

Seriously? It's common knowledge. You don't have to be a rap scholar to know about East West history.

You’re on DCUM. Where these posters really think they represent actual society. This is a bubble.

I'm amazed that MAGAs were triggered by music that's so old and mainstream that white, middle-aged, suburban dads listen to it while they mow the lawn.

I say this with love as I'm part of that suburban dad demographic.

Huh? Performers always wear crazy stuff. Look at Cher and Katy Perry (and in a different type of crazy, Dolly Parton).

That's what I was thinking!

This half time show wasn’t for you. It was for black culture.

Beyoncé did a much better job than these grandpas.

Because Beyonce actually has talent unlike the poor rhyming rappers. Mary J didn't sound good either.

Poor rhyming rappers.

😂 Some of those “poor rhyming rappers” are language savants.

lol savants they are not nor should they ever sing. Yes Ms. B has real talent.

Lol you don’t get rap. That’s fine. You probably think country music and Taylor Swift is talent.

Count me in as someone who thought 50 Cent looked good.

Am I the only one listening to Eminem this morning?

Overall I thought the show was lacking in direction and energy. I love nostalgia acts but this wasn’t it. It was like they just rounded up a bunch of folks from a retirement home and put them on stage. Kendrick managed to put some life into his set, but the rest left a lot to be desired. I thought maybe they’re just too old, but remembered Jennifer Lopez was over 50 during her halftime show last year and was full of energy.

Who died and made you the authority on who should and shouldn’t sing?

It's not typically for Mary, though.

Snoop brought all the energy, even though he was fully baked. His blue track suit may or may not have been a nod to the Crips.

NP. OMG it’s not common knowledge. Jesus take the wheel.

Mary J Blige is from the Bronx, 50 from Jamaica, NY and Eminem is from Detroit but they all have ties and have been produced by Dr. Dre. Snoop, Dre and Kendrick Lamar are all from Compton, literally. Dre has produced Snoop and Lamar. So basically it was the Dr. Dre show.

Interesting enough the song Lamar sang was co-produced and written by Pharrell and Pharrell sings the chorus. Pharrell is also closely associated with Snoop and produced (along with the Neptunes) has produced many of Snoops most famous songs. Pharrell (and the Neptunes) are from Virginia Beach, east coast. When they put in the Something in the Water Festival in 2019 it was incredible: all those acts had been produced by Pharrell. His reach is much further than Dr Dre (no disrespect). So someone needs to get us an east coast Super Bowl, book the Neptunes to do the halftime show, call all their friends and have them perform (NERD, Snoop, Jay Z, Missy Elliott, Busta, Wu Tang, Rihanna, Travis Scott, J Balvin, Usher, Beyoncé, Pusha, Tyler the Creator, SZA, Anderson Paak, Clipse, Puff Daddy, A$AP Rocky).
