Your recent graduate dc major/ profession/ Income ?

I don't know about anyone else but my 27 years old son is making about 500K in software sales. He graduated with a degree in biology with the intention to go to medical school but it was not possible as a student/athlete. He graduated with a 2.7 GPA so medical school was not an option. He ended up in software sales because an alumni in the school athletic department gave him a chance and trained him in software sales. He is expected to exceed 1M when he turns 30. I still find it hard to wrap my head around his compensation. I am a GS-13 with 25 years in the government.

Tech, Investment Banking, Consulting = $$$

Majors = STEM: CS, Math/Staticstics, Electirical/Computer Engineering, etc. and Business or Econ.
(if Econ, name brand school where no undergraduagte business program)

I'm the European PP. My friend has a fine arts degree and a PhD in Architecture. One of her smaller paintings is $25K euros and she probably sells around 10 per month. She also has a long term government contract to consult in the restauration of Beaux-Arts buildings and I think that's a couple of millions.

You have to be really lucky and have connnections. Her parents are probbly rich and have networks.
People here are much more interested in general average outcomes, not some exotic once in a blumoon stories

Art major average starting salary = $25,000
Art field is Wild Wild West

Yes, she is coming from a well-known artist family. Her dad and his two brothers were famous painters and sculptors. However, it is MUCH MUCH easier to sell art now, with Etsy and Saatchi art. There is an enormous appetite for art and collectibles now and some are speculating that this is a new way to launder dirty money, in addition to an investment.

This guy cleared almost 1 million.

Not believable. DH is a partner at a local CPA firm and they have given all staff 2 raises in the last 6 months to keep them for busy season. July was 7%. Jan 1 was 10%.

How long since graduation?
I think it is very practical major.

2020. A lot of the big firms stopped hiring during covid.

Google "CPA firms" with your/their jurisdiction as part of the search and your DC will find a job. But busy season is beginning. they better hop on this.

Have they passed the CPA exam?

FYI, DH's firm in Bethesda is hiring. Google "CPA firms Bethesda". There are multiple to choose from. You don't have to be Big Four.

Investment banking is pretty brutal. No work life balance. But if you are hired (that can be very tough as they only take from certain schools) you can make top money. You can also work very very hard and make poverty wages in some fields.

He was very specific recently. "All staff except partners." Basically, all employees because they need to keep everyone in place. This includes assistants and staff who haven't passed exams.
